Elliott, a junior from Richmond, Va., highlighted a banner day for Hampden-Sydney at Camp Lejeune last week. Elliott won his first collegiate medal to lead the nationally 19th-ranked Tigers to a second place finish in the Gold Championship section of the event. He finished at 5-under par 209 to win by four strokes over Britton Khalaf from Miles College (Ala.) following three rounds at Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp Lejeune, N.C. Elliott opened with a tournament-low tying 6-under 64 on the Scarlet Course, which was set to a par of 70 at 6,101 yards. His final two rounds came on the more difficult Gold Course, which played to 6,851 yards and a par of 72. Elliott shot 2-over 74 in round two, and improved three strokes to a 1-under 71 over his final 18 holes to claim first place. Hampden-Sydney finished at 12-over 868 (274-292-302), six shots behind champion Methodist University, the top-ranked team in Division III by Golfstat. Through 21 rounds of play, Elliott owns a 77.1 scoring average. This was his first top-five finish of the season and second top-10 showing.
