INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Virginia Wesleyan College, winners of the 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship, received the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.  The tournament bracket was released this afternoon and the Marlins will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. and Carnegie Mellon University for first round play.  VWC will square off with the host Tartans in a first round contest on Saturday.

Carnegie Mellon will serve as host of one of 13 four-team pods that will feature first and second round action.  There are three two-team matchups in the first round, with those winners moving on to face three squads that received first round byes, accounting for the 61 teams in this year's tournament field.  Forty-one conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2013 championship. One team was selected from Pool B, which consists of independent schools and school that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 19 berths were reserved for Pool C, which consists of schools from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

Virginia Wesleyan (16-4-1) will be meeting Carnegie Mellon (11-2-3) for the first time this season.  The Tartans punched their NCAA dance card with an at-large bid from the University Athletic Association.  VWC topped Randolph College, 2-1 in overtime, on Saturday to secure its 10th conference crown.

Montclair State University (15-3-2) and Misericordia College (13-5-1) will play in the other first round contest in Pittsburgh, with the winner facing either VWC or CMU in round two.  The Red Hawks earned an at-large selection out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the Cougars enter via the same ticket from the Freedom Conference.

Play in the first and second rounds* of the 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament is set for November 16-17, and continues with sectional play November 22-24.  The four sectional winners will meet at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas, for the semifinals and finals on December 6-7.  Trinity University and the San Antonio Sports Foundation serve as co-hosts for the event.
