Eastern Mennonite's Lucas Named NFCA National Hitter of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Eastern Mennonite softball player Aislinn Lucas (Grottoes, Va./Fort Defiance) has been named Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Hitter of the Week.  The junior outfielder hit .722 over six games, extending her personal hitting streak to 12 games, to earn the award.

Lucas batted 13-for-18 this past week, with seven runs, a double, two homers, two walks and six RBIs. She registered four multi-hit games, including a 14-12 win over Guilford when she was 4-for-4 with four runs, two homers and three RBIs.  It was the second two-homer game of her career.  Lucas also had a 3-3 game with an RBI in a 9-1 five-inning over Bridgewater.

An NFCA All-Region Second Team player last spring, Lucas currently leads the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a .563 batting average and .604 on-base percentage.  Her .771 slugging percentage is fifth in the league.  Lucas has 12 runs and 13 RBIs.

This is the first time an EMU player has claimed either the hitter or pitcher of the week award from the NFCA.
