Felice Lowery, Roanoke, Senior, Outfielder/Catcher

Lowery, a senior from Madison Heights, Va., batted .667 last week (14-for-21) with six doubles, a triple, three homers, eight runs scored and 13 runs batted in during the Maroons' 5-1 week.  Not only did she have one hit in each game, but she also had one extra-base knock in all six contests.  In a sweep of Eastern Mennonite to open the week, Lowery went 3-for-7 with three doubles, two RBI and a run scored.  She added two more doubles, another RBI and a run scored in a split with Bridgewater.  She capped her week on Roanoke's Senior Day by going 8-for-8 in a sweep of Sweet Briar.  In game one, she belted three homers and hit a triple on her way to five RBI and four runs scored.  Lowery batted in five more runs in the night cap while collecting four more hits, including a double.  For the season, Lowery is hitting .418 with five homers and 26 RBI.  She also boasts a .692 slugging percentage.

Softball Player Honor Roll

Aven Thomas, Bridgewater, Junior, Outfielder/Pitcher
Thomas helped lead the Bridgewater Eagles to a 7-1 run in the team’s eight game stretch. After a slower start to the week, Thomas turned it on over the weekend. The junior registered a homer as part of a five-RBI game in Saturday’s 7-2 win over Roanoke. On Sunday, Thomas one-upped her Saturday performance with a six-RBI effort, including a walk-off- grand slam in the sixth, in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep of Emory and Henry. On the week, Thomas hit at a .320 average and drove in 12 runs and scored seven times while also notching seven walks and a double. 

Courtney Allman, Eastern Mennonite, Junior, Second Base
Allman was a consistent leading force for EMU last week, as she batted .545 with two homeruns and six RBI.  The junior batted 6-for-11 with two walks, and also scored five runs.  In a game against Roanoke, she was 3-for-3 from the plate with two longballs, scoring three times and driving in four.  For the week, she also had a 1.091 slugging percentage.  Allman is tied for second in the ODAC with seven homeruns this season.  She is also second in sacrifice flies, third in walks, and seventh n RBI.

Rachel Howard, Guilford, Freshman, Infielder
Howard hit .478 with a homer and seven RBI in Guilford’s 3-5 week… also doubled twice and scored five runs…   had a 10-game hitting streak snapped in the final game of the week… homered among two hits in a 6-3 home loss to Bridgewater… went 4-4 with a double and a career-high four RBI in Guilford’s 27-0 win over Sweet Briar.

Michaela Munday, Lynchburg, Sophomore, Catcher
Munday enjoyed a fine week, hitting .455 in three starts. She tripled once and finished with a .636 slugging percentage.

Laura Bauer, Randolph-Macon, Senior, Catcher
Bauer led the Jackets to a 7-1 record in all ODAC games over the week.  The senior enjoyed a career day against Sweet Briar, going 5-for-6 with four runs, two homeruns, and seven RBI.  On senior day Bauer shined, belting a two run homerun to left center field to help defeat the Hornets for the first time in her career.  On Sunday, the New Kent, Va. native drove in two runs to help break the all-time single-season wins record at Randolph-Macon.

Tori Higginbotham, Virginia Wesleyan, Sophomore, Outfielder
Higginbotham helped guide Virginia Wesleyan to a 6-0 week with sweeps over North Carolina Wesleyan, Randolph, and Lynchburg.  Tori hit .500 (10-for-20) for the week, scored six runs and knocked in five RBI.  Her hit total included two doubles, a triple, and a home run. She also had three stolen bases to increase her team-leading total to 20.  She currently leads the team and the ODAC with a .481 batting average.
