Casey Snead, Guilford, Fr., Pitcher

Snead, a freshman from Ellerbe, N.C., went 1-0 with a save in a 4-0 week for the Quakers.  She entered with two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth inning against William Peace, but struck out the batter she faced to get out of the jam.  She ended up finishing that game, allowing four hits and fanning two, to earn the save.  In her first collegiate start, Snead fanned a school-record 16 Griffins in Guilford's 8-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy.  She went all seven innings, surrendering one run on three hits while walking three.  The 16 punchouts eclipsed the record of 15 set by Jessica Burcham in 2011.

Aven Thomas, Bridgewater (Va.) - (Sr, P/OF - Harrisonburg, Va., 1)
Thomas made a pair of appearances in the circle for the Eagles, recording a 1-1 record.  She went six innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on seven hits in a 4-0 loss to 23rd-ranked Emory.  She backed that with a one-run four-hit effort over 6.1 innings in a 5-1 win over Mississippi College.  She fanned two and walked three over the two performances.

Hope Johnson, Lynchburg -
(So, P - Evington, VA, 8)
Johnson won both of LC's contests this week at the Methodist Early Bird Tournament. She threw a complete-game five-hitter to defeat Case Western in the opener, striking out nine with no walks. Johnson came out of the bullpen for the victory against Methodist in the second game, allowing no earned runs in three innings of work, fanning four batters. For the week, she had an ERA of 0.00 in 10.1 innings, striking out 14 with eight hits and one walk.

Heather Lewis, Randolph-Macon - (Sr, - Glen Alenn, VA, 12)
Lewis led the Yellow Jackets to a series sweep over Dickinson 8-1 and 8-0. She pitched seven innings in the first game and allowed one run off of only five hits. Lewis struck out four batters en route to the victory in the first game. Lewis also was a standout as a hitter, going 1-for-2 in the first game and 2-for-3 in the second game. Lewis posted two runs, one stolen base and one RBI on the weekend.

Kelly Higbie, Roanoke - (So, - Midlothian, VA, 23):
Higbie hurled a pair of complete games and picked up a save for the Maroons last week.  She surrendered three runs and 14 hits in 17 innings of work, while fanning 10 and walking four.  She beat Greensboro (4-1) and Messiah (6-0) with her complete game efforts.

Stephanie Cameron, Shenandoah - (Jr, P - Ocala, Fla., 14)
Cameron tossed seven innings in the Hornets 9-2 win over Averett.  She gave up two runs on four hits while fanning seven and walking just one.
