Hayes, a senior from Seagrove, N.C., wasted no time in getting her season started after seeing last year cut short due to injury. Hayes went 6-for-8 in the Quakers season-opening sweep of Methodist University. In a 15-3 win in game one, she went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a pair of RBI and a stolen base. She followed that with a 2-for-3 showing and a run scored in a 4-1 victory. Hayes, also walked in the latter contest, has reached base in seven of her first nine plate appearances.

In an 0-4 opening weekend for the Royals, Miller shined at the
dish, going 6-for-9 with two runs scored. She went 3-for-3 in
a 6-4 loss to Greensboro. Miller also walked five times.
She's reached base in 11 of her first 14 plate
appearances.
Kristina Karagiorgis, Virginia Wesleyan (Jr., P/OF -
Ashburn, Va.)
Karagiorgis went 4-for-5 over two wins over N.C. Wesleyan.
She went 3-for-3 with a RBI and stolen base in the Marlins'
season-opening 5-2 victory. She then smacked a three-run
homer in a 9-0 win in game two. She also pitched four innings
in the latter contest, fanning eight towards her first win of the
year.
