Maggie Shaffer, Guilford, So., Pitcher

Shaffer, a sophomore from Horsham, Pa., picked up a pair of conference wins last week to help the Quakers open their ODAC slate at 2-1.  Shaffer's two victories came in a 9-7 win against Roanoke and a 2-0 shutout at eighth-ranked Virginia Wesleyan, which marked the first loss of the season for the Marlins.  Shaffer started her week by fiving up four runs on five hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work towards the win against the Maroons.  She followed that with seven scoreless frames against VWC in which she scattered six hits while walking one and striking out one.  Shaffer is now 7-1 on the season, with her seven wins ranking second in the ODAC.  She owns a 2.68 earned run average covering nine appearances (7 starts) and 47.0 innings of work.

Softball Pitching Honor Roll

Amanda Lutz, Bridgewater (Jr, P - Stephens City, Va.)
Lutz made three appearances for the Eagles, earning the win in a 6-2 triumph over Swarthmore and via an 8-0 five-inning perfect game against Delaware Valley.  In that contest, Lutz fanned nine batters without allowing a runner to reach base, marking the third perfect game thrown by a BC pitcher.

Cara Neikirk, Eastern Mennonite (Fr., P - Salem, Va.)
Neikirk fired five shutout innings to earn an 8-0 win in game one over Mary Baldwin.  She followed that with an inning of relief to earn the save in game two, a 6-4 Royals victory.  She gave up three hits with five strikeouts combined.

Taylor Banner, Emory & Henry (So., P/OF - Castlewood, Va.)
Banner picked up a pair of wins and a save in three appearances in the circle.  She threw seven shutout innings with six strikeouts in a 3-0 in over D-II Ohio Valley.  She got the final out in a 4-3 win over D-II Ursuline to record a save.  She capped her pitching week with six innings of two-hit ball, allowing one unearned run with two strikeouts in a 9-1 victory ove Eureka.

Amber Ingram, Lynchburg (Jr., P/OF - Floyd, Va.)
Ingram tossed a pair of seven-inning complete games to earn wins for LC.  She gave up two runs on five hits with three walks and eight punchouts in a 4-2 win over Mary Washington.  She followed that by giving up one run on eight hits with three free passes and three strikeouts in a 7-1 win over Shenandoah.  She also helped herself at the dish with a pair of homers in three games played.

Logan Carter, Randolph (Sr., P - Richmond, Va.)
Carter picked up three wins last week, including a nine-inning 10-strikeout performance in a 7-4 win over Greenville.  She got the win with three innings of work in a 17-3 results over Keystone, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with three walks and five punchouts.  She capped her week with 5-0 win against Shenandoah, giving up just four hits and fanning nine in seven innings of work.

Jenna Best, Randolph-Macon (So., P/1B - Chesapeake, Va.)
Best went 2-1 in three appearances for the Yellow Jackets.  She picked up the win in an 8-0 decision over Mary Washington as she gave up two hits and two walks with a strikeout in five innings in the circle.  After a loss to Virginia Wesleyan (13-0), she rebounded with a complete game victory in an 8-4 triumph over Roanoke.  She gave up four runs (two earned) on 10 hits with three walks and a strikeout in seven innings of work.
