W&L Seeded First in Preseason Swimming Poll

Randolph-Macon and Randolph Round Out the Top Three

SALEM, Va. --- Washington & Lee received six first place nods and 62 votes to narrowly edge out Randolph-Macon in the 2007 ODAC Swimming Preseason Poll.  The Yellow Jackets picked up the two remaining first place tallies and 58 overall votes in the annual coaches survey.  Randolph College collected 43 votes to round out the top three preseason seeds.

Washington & Lee returns all seven of its All-Conference swimmers from last year's ODAC Championship runner-up team.  Some of the key returnees include seniors Susan Mahoney and Amy Roberson, junior Julianne Miata, and sophomores Sarah Simpson and Jenna Worsham, who all consistently posted top times in several events last season.

2006 ODAC Champion, Randolph-Macon, returns six of its eight All-Conference swimmers from last year's campaign.  Among that group of returnees is Marlene Graf, the 2006 Rookie of the Year.  Some swimmers to watch this season include senior Maureen McLaughlin, junior Schafer Busch, and sophomore Amanda Depta, who posted some of the best times in the conference last season.

Randolph College finished in fourth place at last year's ODAC Championship meet.  Some key returnees for the WildCats include seniors Brittney Jones and Kate Descoteaux and sophomore Ashley Jones.

This year's ODAC Championship is slated for February 22-24 at the Dedmon Center on the campus of Radford University in Radford, Virginia.
