Randolph-Macon and Randolph Round Out the Top Three
SALEM, Va. --- Washington & Lee received
six first place nods and 62 votes to narrowly edge out
Randolph-Macon in the 2007 ODAC Swimming Preseason Poll. The
Yellow Jackets picked up the two remaining first place tallies and
58 overall votes in the annual coaches survey. Randolph
College collected 43 votes to round out the top three preseason
seeds.
Washington & Lee returns all seven of its All-Conference
swimmers from last year's ODAC Championship runner-up team.
Some of the key returnees include seniors Susan Mahoney and Amy
Roberson, junior Julianne Miata, and sophomores Sarah Simpson and
Jenna Worsham, who all consistently posted top times in several
events last season.
2006 ODAC Champion, Randolph-Macon, returns six of its eight
All-Conference swimmers from last year's campaign. Among that
group of returnees is Marlene Graf, the 2006 Rookie of the
Year. Some swimmers to watch this season include senior
Maureen McLaughlin, junior Schafer Busch, and sophomore Amanda
Depta, who posted some of the best times in the conference last
season.
Randolph College finished in fourth place at last year's ODAC
Championship meet. Some key returnees for the WildCats
include seniors Brittney Jones and Kate Descoteaux and sophomore
Ashley Jones.
This year's ODAC Championship is slated for February 22-24 at the
Dedmon Center on the campus of Radford University in Radford,
Virginia.
