Williams, a sophomore from Garysburg, N.C., continues to post eye-popping numbers in leading Randolph-Macon to a pair of victories over the Holidays. The Yellow Jackets are now an ODAC-best 9-1 on the season and on the cusp of cracking the Top-25 poll from D3hoops.com. Williams averaged 21.5 points, 19.5 rebounds, and 7.0 blocked shots in the two games at the Cruzin Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She registered 21 points and 17 rebounds in a 70-63 victory over Lycoming. She added five blocked shots and four assists. In a 71-64 overtime victory over Johnson Hopkins, Williams nearly posted a unorthodox triple-double in a full 45 minutes on the court. She scored 22 points and pulled down 22 rebounds to go with nine blocked shots, three assists, and two steals. Five of her blocked shots came in the fourth period. That contest marked her sixth 20-point 20-rebound game of the season. Williams leads NCAA Division III in rebounding (19.6) and blocked shots per game(4.5), second in total blocked shots (45), third in total rebounds (196), and sixth in scoring (23.9).

Women's Basketball Weekly Notes

Bridgewater split two games at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla., falling to Clark (63-61) in overtime before recovering for a victory over Bridgewater State (57-52). Briana Moore averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two contests. She scored 18 points with nine boards, three assists, and two steals against Clark, while dropping in 17 points with four boards against Bridgewater State. She made six three-pointers combined, including four versus Clark.

Eastern Mennonite won at Ferrum (51-47) in its lone game of the holiday season, running its winning streak to five straigt. Chrissy Delawder did a little bit of everything with seven points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high six assists.

Emory & Henry split two games at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic in Atlanta with a win over Birmingham Southern (67-45) before falling to host Oglethorpe (75-52). The Wasps' eight wins (8-3) match their pre-January totals from the past two seasons. Peyton Williams averaged 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in the two contests. She had eight points, six boards, and two steals against BSC, while posting 12 points and three steals against Oglethorpe.

Guilford has now won eight straight games with its 48-point triumph over Salem College (97-49). Lauren Ramsey led with game- and career-high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 5-of-5 from the line. She added seven points, four assists, three steals, and a blocked shot.

Hollins was idle over the holiday break. HU returns to action on Tuesday, January 2, against Central Penn at 5:00 p.m.

Lynchburg won both of its games at the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic at Roanoke College, defeating Meredith (71-34) and Franklin & Marshall (72-52). Molly Shephard had one and nearly a second double-double in the two games. She went for 18 points and 10 boards with two steals against Meredith and followed up with 19 points and nine rebounds with two more steals against F&M. She was 16-of-24 (.667) from the field overall.

Randolph dropped three games over the holidays with losses to Washington Adventist (60-38), Averett (79-69), and St. Andrews (69-66). Daijah Jonson shook off a tough first game to drop 28 points on Averett with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals. She was 11-of-17 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line. She added 14 points, five boards and six assists against St. Andrews.

Roanoke went 2-2 in four games over the break, falling to Babson (61-56) and Bates (60-52) before defeating Franklin & Marshall (66-63) and Meredith (71-64) at the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic. Laura McManimen earned a spot on the all-tournament team after averaging 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in the latter two contests. She hit nine three-pointers over the four games, averaging 13.3 points overall.

Shenandoah split two games at the Music City Classic, defeating Notre Dame (Md.)(69-50) before falling to Dubuque (73-56). Jordan Sondrol had two solid outings, posting 14 points and nine boards with two blockd shots in game one followed by 17 points, five rebounds, and two more rejections in game two.

Virginia Wesleyan lost its two outings over the holiday season, falling at Stockton (73-46) and to Christopher Newport (90-55). Jayla Harris combined to score 36 points with 15 in game one and 21 points to go with five boards and two steals in game two.

Washington and Lee won both of its games at the Daytona Beach Shootout, defeating Illinois Tech (84-47) and Wells (69-33). The Generals have now won three straight games. Katie Popp averaged 18 points over the two games, dropping in 19 markers with four rebounds, five assists, and four steals with two blocked shots against Illinois Tech. She added 17 points and two steals against Wells.
