ODAC Teams Ready for the New Season!

In the long history of the ODAC, it has become increasingly rare to see "firsts" among the ranks, but that's exactly what fans were treated to last year.  Virginia Wesleyan College, playing as the #4 seed, won three times in Salem to hoist the Marlins first ODAC women's basketball championship trophy.  The firsts for VWC nearly continued in the NCAA Tournament as the Marlins came up just short of claiming the program's first win on the national stage. 

While the Marlins enter the season looking for back-to-back championships, they'll have to do so without all five starters from last year's title-winning squad.  The same, however, cannot be said for the rest of the league as 12 of the 18 All-ODAC honorees are back.  That includes two All-ODAC First Team standouts in Randolph-Macon forward Katie Anderson and 2015 ODAC Player of the Year, Jess Rheinheimer.  Rheinheimer not only led Eastern Mennonite to a NCAA Tournament first round victory, but also earned the Jostens Trophy as the top women's basketball player in NCAA Division III.

Curious what the coaches think about the upcoming campaign?  The first opportunity to hear the coaches' opinions is on Thursday, November 5, when all 12 mentors meet in Salem, Va., for the annual ODAC Women's Basketball Media Day.  Video interviews with each coach will be posted here in the 2015-16 ODAC Women's Basketball Virtual Media Guide.
