W&L Holds Top Billing, Will Host Semis, Finals
SALEM, Va. --- Washington and Lee University
gets to stay close to home in its search for a sixth straight ODAC
women's lacrosse title as the Generals will host the final two
rounds of the 2008 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Top-seeded W&L (15-2 overall, 8-0 ODAC) and the second seed,
Roanoke College (9-7, 6-2), earn byes through the quarterfinal
round in the conference's six-team tournament format.
The quarterfinals are set for Wednesday, April 23, at times yet to
be determined. The two winners will meet Washington and Lee
or Roanoke in the semifinals on Saturday, April 26. The
championship contest is slated for Sunday, April 27. Game
times will be announced at a later date.
Third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan College (11-5, 6-2) will host
sixth-seed Lynchburg College (8-8, 3-5) in one of the
quarterfinals. The Marlins defeated the Hornets, 15-10, in
regular season action. Randolph-Macon College (5-9, 5-3), the
tournament's fifth seed, pays a visit to fourth-seeded Guilford
College (9-6, 5-3) in the quarters. The Quakers narrowly
escaped with a 13-12 victory. The Yellow Jackets scored the
final two goals of the game in the last three minutes including a
tally with 0:01 on the clock.
