ASHLAND, Va. --- MK Geratowski has been hired
as head coach of the women’s lacrosse program at
Randolph-Macon College.
“I am thrilled to be accepting the position as the next head
women's lacrosse coach at Randolph-Macon College,” Geratowski
said. “When I came to campus I was so impressed by the
facilities and the support for the lacrosse program here that I
knew immediately this was a place I wanted to be. I want to thank
Athletic Director Jeff Burns for giving me the opportunity to put
my own stamp on such a great program. I also want to thank Brooke
Ireland for giving me the experience this past year at William
& Mary that has prepared me to take on this new role. I could
not be more excited to join the Yellow Jacket family.”
“We are thrilled to have MK join us to lead our women’s
lacrosse program,” Burns said. “She has risen rapidly
through the coaching ranks and is poised to take on the challenges
of a head coach. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she will be an
excellent addition to the R-MC community.”
Geratowski has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach
in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This past year, she was offensive
and recruiting coordinator at William and Mary. The Tribe averaged
10 goals per contest and closed out the season with a 16-12 victory
at George Mason.
The previous year, Geratowski served as offensive coordinator at
Washington and Lee. The Generals were 15-5 overall and 9-0 in the
ODAC. W&L averaged more than 13 goals per game and more than 17
goals in conference contests.
“I am very excited to welcome MK back to the ODAC as the head
coach of the Randolph Macon women’s lacrosse program,”
Washington and Lee head coach Brooke Diamond O’Brien said.
“Her strong coaching knowledge, significant coaching
experience and passion for the game will provide Randolph-Macon
with the necessary leadership to continue developing their program
into one of the strongest in the conference and the region. She is
a tremendous coach and educator and will no doubt create a
fantastic experience for her student-athletes.”
For the 2011 campaign, she was the volunteer assistant at Richmond.
The Spiders went 10-9 and reached the finals of the Atlantic 10
Championship.
During the 2010 season, Geratowski was the defensive coordinator at
Connecticut College.
Geratowski was a four-year standout at Elmira College. She was team
MVP and captain in 2007 and 2008. Geratowski was a member of the
All-Sportsmanship Team in the Empire 8 Conference in 2007 and 2008.
She was also a member of the varsity ice hockey team, winning the
Coach’s Award for 2005-06. Geratowski served as a student
assistant coach in 2007-08.
"Randolph-Macon is very lucky to have MK joining their coaching
staff,” Elmira head women’s lacrosse coach Katie
Augustine-Moore said. “She was a phenomenal leader and team
player during her four-year career at Elmira College. She was an
extremely hard worker as a player and will no doubt be a dedicated
and hardworking coach."
In 2008, Geratowski earned a Bachelor of Science in English
Literature and Secondary Education from Elmira. She earned a Master
of Education in Sports Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth
University in 2011.
Geratowski replaces Caitlin Moore, who led the Yellow Jackets for
the past three seasons before returning this summer to her alma
mater, Mary Washington, as head coach.
