Bridgewater's Randolph, Van Horn Lead All-ODAC Women's Soccer Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Conference champion Bridgewater College collected a league-best eight all-conference accolades in addition to a pair of special individual honors to headline the 2020-21 All-ODAC Women's Soccer Awards.

Eagles' midfielder Hanna Randolph earned ODAC Player of the Year plaudits, while BC mentor Mike Van Horn received ODAC Coach of the Year distinction from his peers. Roanoke College forward Morgan O'Neill garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, and Randolph-Macon College forward Casey Kent took home ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete laurels from the conference's athletic communications personnel.

The first spring women's soccer season in ODAC history was not the only new feature to the campaign. Twenty-six of the 39 total honorees did not appear on the 2019 fall all-conference lists. Of the 13 repeat honoress, four appear on this year's All-ODAC First Team. BC's Randolph and Washington and Lee University midfielder Erin Hoeh were both first teamers in the previous edition of women's soccer awards. Virginia Wesleyan University midfielder Kennedi Anders was an All-ODAC Second Team choice, while teammate and defender Sam Crawford -- the 2019 ODAC Rookie of the Year -- moved from the All-ODAC Third Team.

Randolph, a junior from Woodbridge, Va., is the engine that drives the Eagles offense, resulting in the team's first championship this year. She scored twice and dished out three assists this season. One of those goals included the game's lone tally in a 1-0 road win at Virginia Wesleyan in the season opener. She registered at least one point in four of Bridgewater's first five games and continued pulling the strings that saw the Eagles rattle off eight straight wins to start the year. Thru three seasons, Randolph has collected 41 points on 13 goals and 15 assists.

Van Horn enjoys his third ODAC top coaching honor after completing his 13th season guiding the Eagles program. He previously earned ODAC Coach of the Year recognition in 2012 and 2017. The third time was a charm for the Eagles under Van Horn as Bridgewater appeared in its third conference championship match since 2021 this spring and lifted the program's first ODAC trophy via penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw with Washington and Lee. Van Horn now owns a 155-80-15 (.650) career record.

O'Neill, a first-year from Morristown, N.J., showed her importance to the Roanoke attack from day one as she started and scored Roanoke's goal in a 1-1 draw at Ferrum in her first collegiate game. O'Neill started all but two of 11 games played this spring, posting three total goals towards six points. She finished second on the team with 37 shots, scoring her two additional goals in wins over Southern Virginia University and Eastern Mennonite University.

Kent, a senior from Fairfax, Va., shines both on and off the field as she pairs this honor with an All-ODAC Third Team selection. In the classroom, Kent maintains a 3.97 grade point average as a mathematics and computer science double major. The three-time All-ODAC Academic Team honoree has appeared on seven straight Randolph-Macon College Dean's Lists. Kent received the Moore-Peace Prize for Mathematical Scholarships at R-MC, which recognizes a senior mathematics majors who have demonstrated superior academic achievement and promise for graduate study in mathematics. She previously received the Phi Beta Kappa Sophomore Recognition Award at R-MC. Kent is a member and treasurer of R-MC's chapter of the Chi Beta Phi (science) honor society. She is also a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon (mathematics) honor society and serves as a calculus and discrete math tutor.

On the field, Kent is now a three-time All-ODAC honoree, having played a major role in the Yellow Jackets' ODAC title run in 2019. This season, she scored once and dished out an assist. Her goal was the first tally in a 2-0 victory at Guilford. Kent registered 18 goals and 19 assists for her career. She helped Randolph-Macon to a 43-14-7 (.727) record during her career.
