ALLIE ESPINA, Washington and Lee University, Sophomore - Forward

Espina, a sophomore from Gaithersburg, Maryland, recorded three goals in two matches last week against Bridgewater and Guilford. Recorded the Generals’ only goals of the match against Bridgewater, recording two markers in the second half for the 2-1 victory. Also recorded a goal in the ODAC quarterfinal match against Guilford, where the Generals advanced to the semifinals of the tournament with a 2-0 victory.

Valerie Burton, Eastern Mennonite University, Senior - Defender
Burton scored a pair of goals for the Lady Royals in their win over Hollins Tuesday. It was a must-win for EMU, as a loss would have ended their hopes of making the ODAC tournament. Burton, a defender, scored EMU’s first goal with 36 seconds left in the first half. She scored again on a penalty kick just 2:50 into the second half to make it 2-0. The women won 4-1. In Saturday’s 3-0 playoff loss to Virginia Wesleyan, Burton missed most of the second half with a injury. The Marlins scored all their goals in the second half. Burton ends her final season with three goals scored, which is tied for her season high at EMU.

Marina Schachowskoj, Guilford College, Junior - Midfielder
Schachowskoj scored the Quakers’ lone goal in an 0-2 week… netted Guilford’s goal in its regular-season loss to Emory & Henry Oct. 28

Carmen Graves, Roanoke College, Freshman - Forward
Graves scored three goals and added an assist as the Maroons went 2-0 in ODAC play last week. She scored a goal and added an assist in limited action in a 10-0 win over Randolph last Wednesday. Against Bridgewater in the ODAC Quarterfinals, she scored two goals in the 6-1 win over the Eagles to advance to the ODAC Semifinals against Virginia Wesleyan.

Nikki Mazzoccone, Virginia Wesleyan College, Senior - Midfielder
Mazzoccone scored back-to-back goals in back-to-back wins for Virginia Wesleyan for the second time this season. Despite missing most of September with an injury, Mazzoccone has become an offensive leader in the midfielder for the Marlins throughout October with her ability to direct the offensive flow. She has helped the Marlins outscore foes 38-2 in October.
