Will Serve as Head Coach for Men's and Women's Programs

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The WildCat’s tennis programs have found a new head mentor, as Jamie Campbell was selected to lead Randolph men’s and women’s teams, as announced by Director of Athletics Tina Hill Tuesday morning.

Campbell comes to the College after having extensive experience at the Division I level. Most recently, Campbell was the head coach of the highly successful University of Texas at El Paso women’s team, holding that position since 2003.

While at UTEP, Campbell led the Miners program to 48 match wins over the past four seasons, a team best over any four-year stretch in school history. She was the fastest coach to 50, 60 and 70 wins in program history, and 23 of her athletes were named Conference USA Honor Roll award winners as her teams averaged a team GPA over 3.0.

“We’re very excited to have Coach Campbell join the Randolph College community,” said Hill. “She brings to us a wealth of experience that will be invaluable for our tennis programs and has a genuine appreciation of providing a high quality learning experience for our student-athletes. Coach Campbell’s familiarity of the ODAC and the Mid-Atlantic region will serve us well and her passion for the sport of tennis is contagious.”

Before UTEP, Campbell was the head women’s coach at Binghamton University, where she navigated the Bearcats transition to Division I. While at BU she was posted a 55-53 record, including a 16-8 mark in 2002-03, which earned her America East Coach of the Year honors.

"I want to thank Athletic Director, Tina Hill, for giving me the opportunity to coach at Randolph College,” Said Campbell. “Both the College and athletic department are in an exciting time and I'm proud to be a part of it. I look forward to meeting the tennis players and working together to further develop each program."

A native of Lexington, KY, Campbell graduated in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science in Sports Medicine from Guilford College, where she starred on the tennis team. As a Quaker, she posted a 70-25 mark over four seasons, also going 63-23 in her doubles career. Campbell still finds herself in the Guilford top 10 in five career categories, including overall wins with 133.

She would attain her Master’s of Science in Kinesiology at James Madison University in May of 1998, as she served for two seasons as an assistant coach on the Dukes’ women’s tennis team. She has also worked as the Director of the Ace Tennis Camp in El Paso, TX from 1999-2007.
