Meighan Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

Posts a Pair of Wins on Event's First Day

CARY, N.C. --- Washington and Lee first-year women's tennis player Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va./Flint Hill) completed day one of the NCAA Division III Women's Singles Tournament with two victories on Thursday afternoon at the Cary Tennis Park.

In Meighan's first round matchup, she cruised by Carley Cooke from Brandeis, 6-2, 6-1, advancing her to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Meighan then faced Kelly Gebert from DePauw in the round of 16, defeating the Tiger, 6-2, 6-2.

With the win over Gebert, Meighan advances to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, where she will face Gabrielle Clark of Emory. The match is set to begin at 10:00 am on Friday.
