SALEM, Va. --- Daniel Ragsdale will serve
as the new head coach of the Roanoke College women's tennis program
announced by Director of Athletics, Scott Allison. He will
replace Justin
Fainter, who left Roanoke College in June to become the
Head Women's and Men's Tennis Coaching Position at Pfeiffer College
in Misenheimer, NC.
"We're so pleased that Daniel has assumed our Head Women's Tennis
position. He's an excellent one on one instructor," said
Allison. "I know that our student athletes will benefit from
Daniel's on-the-court expertise. In addition, he seems
excited to build upon the foundation laid by our previous coaches,
Scott Gibson and Justin
Fainter. We'll certainly miss (graduating seniors)
Corbin (Leitch) and Laura (Dodson), yet Justin recruited some
excellent players for the class of '17. They'll
complement a very strong corps of returnees, making us a tough team
to beat in the ODAC."
Ragsdale comes to Roanoke College as Head Tennis Pro at Roanoke
Country Club, a position he's held since 2011. He's been with
the Roanoke Country Club since 2008, where he served as Assistant
Head Pro for three years. Ragsdale is certified under the
United States Professional Tennis Association, as well as holding
TDM and USTA Tournament Director Certifications.
Prior to arriving in Roanoke, Ragsdale was a Tennis Professional at
River Hills Club of Jackson, Mississippi from 2001-2008.
During that time he was a member of the Belhaven University Tennis
team from 2002-05, where he was the #1 doubles and #2 singles
player. Before Belhaven, Ragsdale played at Wallace State
Community College, where he was a two-year starter and NJCAA
Regional Doubles Champion.
Ragsdale's position began on August 12.
