ARIEL TAYLOR, Sweet Briar, Freshman, No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles

Taylor, a freshman from Springfield, Va., picks up her second weekly honor after a week that included a pair of singles wins over regionally-ranked opponents.  Taylor, competing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles over the past week, went 4-0 overall in singles action and 2-2 in doubles play.  She opened the week with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Washington and Lee's Lauren Lukas, currently the 19th-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).  Taylor continued her week with singles and doubles victories over Emory & Henry (6-1, 6-0 and 8-4) and Southern Virginia (6-1, 6-1 and 8-2).  She capped her week with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Courtney Goimarac from Mary Washington, the 17th-rated player in the region.  For the season, Taylor tops the ODAC singles win-loss records with a 15-0 mark, all from the No. 1 ladder position.  She is currently ranked 20th in the region.  The new ITA rankings are set to be released on April 14.

Women's Tennis Honor Roll

Katy Bergey, Bridgewater, Freshman, No. 2 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Bergey lost just three total games in her three matches on the week to aid the Bridgewater women’s tennis team to a flawless week. Bergey was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Shantel Rivera on Wednesday before posting an identical 6-0, 6-1 victory on Saturday against St. Mary’s (Md.) The Harrisonburg, Va. native wrapped up the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Emory & Henry’s Kandyce Baker on Sunday to go 3-0 in singles action. Bergey teamed up with fellow freshman Katie Gordon to go 3-0 in doubles play with 8-2, 8-1 and 8-2 victories.  BC's team wins came against Randolph (9-0), St. Mary's (8-1) and Emory & Henry (9-0).

Nina Bollag, Guilford, Senior, No. 3 Singles, No. 2 Doubles

Bollag went 5-1 overall in the Quakers’ 2-1 week… went 3-0 from the three spot in singles … earned a three-set win over Adamma Ebo of Spelman College coming back from a first set loss 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 10-4…posted a 2-1 mark at second doubles with wins over Averett and Lynchburg alongside Liz Killion.

Laura Dodson, Roanoke, No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles
Dodson went 2-0 in both singles and doubles action, helping the Maroons to team wins over Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg.  Dodson lost just one game in singles play.
