WLU Falls in NCAA First Round

Generals Stopped by Mount St. Joe's

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio --- The Washington and Lee volleyball team fell to Mt. St. Joseph, 25-22, 25-18, 25-23, in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional on Thursday afternoon at Wittenberg College.

The Generals were paced by junior setter Megan Steinhardt's (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) 28 assists and a game-high 18 digs, while junior outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) amassed 11 kills and nine digs. Senior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) posted eight digs, seven kills and two service aces, while senior outside hitter Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) registered 10 kills and nine digs.

Washington and Lee wraps up the 2008 season with a 31-7 overall mark, while Mt. St. Joseph (29-10) advances to the second round where it will compete against the winner of the Washington University/Frostburg St. match on Friday.
