R-MC Falls to Emory in Second Round

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --- Reigning ODAC Champion Randolph-Macon saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon at the hands of No. 3 Emory University in the second-round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.   EU topped R-MC 3-0.

R-MC's Mallory Carter ended one of the best seasons in program history with a team-best 11 kills on the day. The First-Team All-ODAC and All-South Region choice finishes her junior season with a school record 443 kills. Carter also had 13 digs defensively to tie with libero Marli Dabareiner for the team lead against EU.  Baily Troia had 28 assists to go along with six kills from Tori Puryear and five from Hillary Jessee.

R-MC ends the season with a 24-6 record.  Emory advances to Sunday's regional final at Christopher Newport and improves its record to 36-4 on the season.

The two-time National Champion Eagles were paced by Amelia McCall's match-high 19 kills.  Natalie Schonenfeld dished out 34 assists for Emory in the win as well.
