Two ODAC Squads Listed in First NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings

Yellow Jackets and Generals Rated Third and Sixth

FOREST, Va. --- The NCAA released its first set of regional rankings for the fall team sports (except football) on Wednesday with the ODAC earning solid representation throughout. In volleyball, Randolph-Macon College (16-5 overall, 7-0 in the ODAC) sits third in the South Region, with Washington and Lee University (19-7, 7-1) in sixth position.

NCAA Division III volleyball is comprised of eight regions across the nation with the top eight schools ranked in each list. Emory University currently owns the top spot in the region with Christopher Newport University holding the second position. Southwestern University (Texas) and Hardin-Simmons University (Texas) separate R-MC from W&L in the fourth and fifth slots, respectively.  The University of Texas at Dallas and Maryville College (Tenn.) round out the group in seventh and eighth, respectively.

New rankings will be determined each week through the end of conference tournament action. The rankings compiled through the NCAA Division III Volleyball Committee aid in determining at-large bids into the NCAA postseason tournament.

Randolph-Macon also received votes towards the latest national poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).  The Yellow Jackets received 10 points toward the national survey, putting them seven places outside the top-25.  Washington University in St. Louis heads the national listing with a 24-2 overall record and 582 poll points.
