Meleski, a senior from Richmond, Va., helped lead Washington and Lee to a 3-0 week that included ODAC wins over Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan. The Generals' setter notched 120 assists on the week, averaging 12.0 per set over the three matches and helping W&L to a .270 team hitting percentage. She notched 43 helpers with 14 digs, four blocks and three aces in a 3-0 win over R-MC. She backed that up with 42 assists, six digs and two aces in a 3-0 triumph against Virginia Wesleyan. She capped her week with four kills, 35 assists, 12 digs and two blocks in a 3-0 victory over Averett. Meleski currently leads the ODAC with 328 assists and a 9.94 per set average.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Megann Grimes, Bridgewater (Jr.,
Middle Hitter, Midland, Va.)
Grimes helped the Eagles to a 3-0 week by hitting .480 in wins
over Guilford, Roanoke and Hollins. She collected 31 kills,
including 11 against Hollins. She was also strong
defensively, registering nine total blocks in five against
Roanoke.
McKenna Carter, Eastern Mennonite (Fr.,
Middle Hitter, Waynesboro, Va.)
Carter helped the Royals to a 2-1 week that included the
program's first ODAC wins since 2009 with victories over Randolph
(3-2) and Hollins (3-1). Carter notched 37 kills while
hitting .305. She had a weekly best of 15 kills and six
blocks in the win over Randolph.
Nicole Tesh, Emory & Henry (Sr.,
Middle, Boone, N.C.)
Tesh led E&H to a pair of ODAC wins over
Randolph (3-0) and Lynchburg (3-1). Tesh notched 10 kills on Friday
night vs. the WildCats and 14 on Saturday against LC for a 3.43
kills/set mark with a .296 (24-8-54) attack percentage. She also
totaled four blocks and two aces on the weekend. E&H win over
Lynchburg was the first for the program since 2008.
Brittany Freeman, Guilford (Sr., OH,
Hendersonville, N.C.)
Freeman paced Guilford in a 1-2 week with 3.5
points and 3.27 kills per set. She hit .268 for the week and
ranked third on the club with 1.45 digs per set while also serving
up two aces. She led Guilford in kills in all three matches,
including a match-best 16 in the Quakers' 3-1 win over Randolph,
her team-leading seventh contest with 10 or more
putaways.
Courtney Lowers, Randolph-Macon (So.,
Outside Hitter, Suffolk, Va.)
Lowers helped R-MC to a 3-1 week that included ODAC wins over
Lynchburg (3-0) and Shenandoah (3-0). She smacked 42 kills
with a .356 hitting percentage. She notched a weekly-high of
13 winners in a 3-0 win over Catholic. Lowers also had seven
total blocks.
Macey Tyree, Roanoke (Jr., Outside
Hitter, Daleville, Va.)
Tyree finished with 29 kills, 11 service aces and
37 digs. in a 2-1 week that including Maroons' wins over Shenandoah
(3-0) and Eastern Mennonite (3-1). She served the final eight
consecutive points of RC's triumph over EMU. She collected
eight service aces in that match.
