BC's Kubisiak Leads ODAC at NCAA Cross Country Championships

MASON, Ohio --- Bridgewater College standout Kaylee Kubisiak led a handful of ODAC runners at the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, hosted by Wilmington College at the Golf Center at King's Island in Mason, Ohio.  Kubisiak was one of two individuals competing on the women's side from conference schools.  Four individuals and the enter Eagles squad competed in the men's ranks.

Kubisiak, the reigning two-time ODAC individual champion and runner of the year, finished the six kilometer course in 60th position with a time of 22:52.7.  The Eagles junior was one of just 69 athletes to post sub-23:00 in the 275-competitor field.  In addition to Kubisiak's outing, Eastern Mennonite University freshman Kat Lehman capped her rookie season with a time of 24:02.2 to finish 202nd.

Johns Hopkins University claimed the women's team title, racking up just 87 points among its five scoring runners.  Amy Regan from Stevens Institue of Technology won the individual crown in 20:51.9.  She was one of just two runners to stop the watches short of 21 minutes.

On the men's side, Bridgewater's team finished 32nd overall with 737 points.  Trey Gibson led seven Eagles in the field with a time of 25:42.6 to place 166th.  Aaron Hill (169th - 25:43.8) and Luke Sohl (176th - 25:45.5) followed, while Matt Denlinger (228th - 26:09.3) and Keith Thomas (229th - 26:09.6) capped BC's scoring five.  Tim Miller (240th - 26:18.3) and Connor Maguder (277th - 27:28.3) rounded out the Eagles' contingent.

Four individuals from ODAC schools also took to the eight-kilometer course.  Harrison Toney from Roanoke College was the top ODAC finisher as he placed 129th in 25:32.0.  EMU's Jacob Landis chimed in 216th (26:03.6), while teammate and South/Southeast Region Runner of the Year Ryan Gehman placed 237th (26:15.8).  Levi Warring from Washington and Lee University took up 222nd position (26:05.7).

North Central College (Ill.), the favorite coming into the event, earned the men's team title with 130 accumulated points.  Grant Wintheiser from St. Olaf College won the individual championship with a time of 23:44.9.  He was one of just four runners to post a time under 24 minutes in the 280-person field.
