R-MC Tops W&L, 5-2, in ODAC Quarterfinal Action

ASHLAND, Va. --- The Randolph-Macon College field hockey team knocked off sixth-seeded Washington and Lee University this afternoon in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals with a 5-2 win that advances them to the ODAC semifinals. The Yellow Jackets will face second-seeded Shenandoah.

The Yellow Jackets' first goal was scored by sophomore Renee Greenslade in the 18th minute (unassisted) for the early lead. Catherine Pricone opened the second period with her first goal of the day to advance the lead to 2-0. Her goal was assisted by junior Carrie Jacobs. In the 40th minute Jacobs scored the Jackets' third goal assisted by Mackenzie Turner. Pricone would follow with her second goal, assisted by senior Lauren Seal. Seal finished the day with two shots, one SOG. The final Jacket goal was scored by Jacobs (unassisted). She recorded six shots, two SOG on the day.

The Generals would respond with two goals late in the second period, ultimately falling short. Senior goalkeeper Steph Talley receives the win with 11 saves alongside senior Jenna Marlette and Olivia Newman, who each tallied a defensive save.

The Jackets (10-9, 7-2 ODAC) will travel to Winchester, Va. Wednesday, November 6 to face second-seeded Shenandoah for the second time this season in the ODAC Tournament semifinals.
