Shenandoah Headed to Semifinals with Win Over Roanoke

WINCHESTER, Va. --- Fourth-seeded Shenandoah University has advanced to the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament semi-finals for the fourth straight year thanks to a 1-0 quarterfinal round victory over No. 5 Roanoke Tuesday evening.

Shenandoah (11-6) advances to Friday's semi-final against top-seeded Washington and Lee with the victory over Roanoke (11-7).

SU previously defeated W&L 2-1 in double overtime on October 16.

This semi-final round game will be played Friday afternoon on the campus of Washington and Lee University.

Sophomore Elizabeth Pardo scored the game's lone goal at 18:51 when she deflected home a Kelani Bailey shot.

Awarded a corner, Bailey took the Sarah Brock insertion and shot on goal, where Pardo came through and was able to redirect it past Roanoke keeper Emma Graybill.

The Hornets, who outshot Roanoke 17-2 and had an 11-4 advantage in penalty corners, missed on a pair of penalty strokes (one in each half) to keep RC in the contest.

Brock missed just left in the first half and Bailey lofted her attempt slightly over the bar in the second.

Shenandoah goalkeeper Jessica Brown did not have to make a save in posting the shutout.

Alexa Lapp did have a defensive save off of a Roanoke corner in the first half.

The winner of Friday's semi-final faces the winner of No. 2 Lynchburg versus No. 3 Bridgewater in Saturday's championship. BC advanced to the semis with an 8-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon.
