Top-Seeded Virginia Wesleyan Looks to Repeat

FOREST, Va. --- Virginia Wesleyan College (33-5 overall, 18-2 ODAC) enters the 2014 ODAC Softball Tournament as the top seed for the third straight season as the Marlins look to repeat as conference champs and collect their third league trophy in the last four years.  VWC is one of eight teams headed to the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va., for the league's annual postseason event.

Lynchburg College (28-12, 15-5) had its position as the second seed wrapped up over the weekend, but determining the next four seeds came down to the results of the season's final series on Wednesday.  Randolph College (26-13, 13-7) put together some late inning heroics against Guilford College to earn a split with the Quakers to secure the third seed.  Randolph-Macon College (22-10, 12-8) rounds out the top four.

Eastern Mennonite University (17-16-1, 10-9-1) matches up with the Yellow Jackets in the first round as the fifth seed, while sixth-seeded Guilford (27-13, 10-10) faces Randolph for yet another pairing of the two squads.  Emory & Henry College (23-13, 9-11) returns to the tournament field following a one-year hiatus, with the Wasps playing as the seventh seed.  They meet LC in the first round.  Bridgewater College (20-17-1, 8-11-1) caps the eight team contingent and clashes with VWC in a first round meeting.

The double-elimination tournament begins on Friday, April 25 and continues through Sunday, April 27.  All games will be played at the Moyer Sports Complex.
