R-MC Advances Past E&H into Semis

Yellow Jackets to Face Lynchburg in Semifinals at Washington and Lee

ASHLAND, Va. --- Second-seeded Randolph-Macon topped seventh-seed Emory & Henry, 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2011 ODAC Volleyball Tournament.  The Yellow Jackets advance to Saturday's semifinals where they will take on  third-seeded Lynchburg at 12:30 p.m. at Washington & Lee.

The Yellow Jackets won by games scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-11.  R-MC improves to 21-5 on the season, while the Wasps' season ends with a 14-13 overall record.

Randolph-Macon was led by Mallory Carter who had a match-high 15 kills on the night.    Tori Puryear had seven kills, while Mallory James chipped in with six of her own.  Bailey Troia dished out 33 assists in the win for the Jackets as well.

Defensively, R-MC got 25 digs from Marli Dabareiner, nine digs from Troia and eight digs from Jessica Sears. 

Randolph-Macon took the first game but fell behind 18-17 in game two after a service error.  A kill by Carter tied the game at 18 all and sparked what proved to be an 8-2 run that was capped by a kill by James to end the game.

In game three, R-MC led 10-6 and then proceeded to go on an 11-2 run,  going up 21-8 on a kill by Sears.  R-MC then closed out the match on a service by Danielle Moorewho had three kills on the night.

Jamie Cockerham led E&H with 12 kills.  Fallon Davis had 17 assists and Sam Lucado had 17 digs on the defensive side of the net.
