Hill, Beaver Send R-MC into ODAC Semifinals with Win over Roanoke

ASHLAND, Va. --- The top-seeded Randolph-Macon volleyball team advanced to the ODAC semifinals with a 3-0 win over eighth seeded Roanoke on Wednesday night. R-MC will now host both the semi-final games on Friday (5:00 p.m./ 7:30 p.m.) and the finals on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Freshman Miranda Hall (Mechanicsville, Va./ Hanover) led the charge for the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills on 33 attacks and only one error. Hall tallied a .455 kill percentage while also recording three blocks.

The Yellow Jackets trailed for the majority of the first half of set one. With R-MC down 12-10, it would go on to win six of the next eight points to take the lead at 16-14. R-MC and RC battled but the Yellow Jackets would take the opening set 25-22 from junior Rebecca McGilvery's (Warrenton, Va./ Kettle Run) kill.

The Maroons again led the majority of the second set. With RC up 16-15, R-MC would go on another run. With senior Rachel Wyatt (Virginia Beach, Va./ Princess Anne) serving, the Yellow Jackets would win the next seven points. R-MC would go on to win the set 25-23.

R-MC then dominated the third and final set. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to 10-4 lead and never looked back, winning the set 25-11.

Junior setter Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./ Cardinal Gibbons) who was 10th in the nation in assists per set heading into the game, added 43 assists to her tally for the season. She also gathered nine digs on the night.

Standing out for the Yellow Jackets were juniors Colleen Beaver, (Fredericksburg, Va./ Massaponax) led the team in blocks with four and Samantha Sallade (Newport News, Va./ Peninsula Catholic) who led the team in digs with 14.

R-MC (21-7) will play host to the number four seeded Bridgewater Eagles on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
