ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: December 4, 2012

 

INDOOR TRACK
Rachad Davis, Lynchburg, Junior
Davis, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., started off the 2012-13 season with a pair of strong performances at the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. Davis was the first NCAA Division III finisher in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash in a meet that included a mix of NCAA Division I, II and III competitors. After qualifying fourth in the preliminaries, Davis finished third overall in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.51. In the 200-dash, Davis set a personal indoor-best with a time of 23.33.

INDOOR TRACK
Carmen Graves, Roanoke, Senior
Graves, a senior from Christiansburg, Va., picked up right where she left off last season, although her success came in a new event at the Liberty Kickoff this weekend. In her first ever start in the 3000-meter run, Graves won the event with a time of 10:15.98, finishing better than 30 seconds faster than the second-place runner. Her time was also just off the school record held by previous national champion, Casey Smith.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Colton Hunt, Randolph, Sr., Guard
Hunt, a senior from Whittier, N.C., has helped lead Randolph to a tie for the best start in school history at 5-0, including a pair of ODAC wins last week. In a 65-61 win over Bridgewater College, Hunt notched the first double-double of his career with 28 points and 11 rebounds. He made 13-of-17 shots from the line in the win. He followed that with 23 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals in a 67-52 win over Washington and Lee. He converted 9-of-10 from the line, also making 7-of-15 shots from the field. For the week, Hunt averaged 25.5 points and eight rebounds per contest. He leads the ODAC in scoring at 25.2 points per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Karina Farr, Emory & Henry, Fr., Forward
Farr, a freshman from Graham, Wash., helped the Wasps to a 2-1 record last week that included a pair of ODAC wins. Farr notched a trio of double-doubles, beginning with a 12-point 12-rebound showing in a 60-56 loss to Averett. Seven of her rebounds came via the offensive glass. Farr corralled eight more offensive boards towards 15 rebounds to go with 16 points in a 69-49 triumph over Randolph College. She also had five steals in that contest. Farr capped her week with a career-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting with 11 rebounds in a 67-58 win at Shenandoah. She added three steals in that contest. For the week, Farr averaged 17.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51.7-percent from the field (15-of-29). She was also 22-of-27 (81.5 %) from the free throw line.

SWIMMING
Emma Swabb, Washington and Lee, Freshman
Swabb, a freshman from Erie, Pa., helped the Generals claim the 2012 Yellow Jacket Invitational title as she was apart of six Washington and Lee event victories, including a trio of individual first place finishes. She also helped reset three W&L school records. Swabb won the 400-yard individual medley in a school-record time of 4:42.06. Her remaining individual wins came in the 200-yard IM (2:13.16) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.63). Swabb swam legs of three winning relay teams, two of which set new school marks. The Generals won the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:55.40), and then stamped new entries in the W&L books with times of 1:40.53 and 4:03.53 in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay, respectively. The times established new ODAC season-best marks.
