ODAC Athletes of the Week | Field Hockey, Soccer, Track & Field, Volleyball

FOREST, Va. --- ODAC athletes continue to show why they're some of the best Division III has to offer as week 12 of ODAC reporting continues. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards include (pictured from top and left): Ryan Doyle from Guilford men's soccer, Caitlin Barnes from Washington and Lee women's soccer, Joe O'Connor from W&L men's track & field, Lauren Anderson from Lynchburg women's track & field, Grace Weise from W&L field hockey, Carolyn Todd from W&L women's track & field, Frank Csorba from LYN men's track & field, and Greta Coss from Virginia Wesleyan volleyball.

Below are entries for all eight winners from today's release. Stay tuned for ODAC weekly golf awards on Wednesday.

FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Grace Weise | Washington and Lee | Jr. | Forward
Weise, a junior from Bryn Mawr, Pa., helped lead Washington and Lee to a pair of ODAC wins, improving the Generals to 6-1 overall and in ODAC play. Weise opened with three goals for her first collegiate hat trick in W&L's 5-2 win over Shenandoah. She scored the game's first goal, and her second tally put W&L ahead for good at 3-2 with less than nine minutes to play. She tacked on the game's final goal in the 58th minute. Weise was again on the scoresheet in a 3-0 road win at Randolph-Macon. She opened W&L's ledger with the game's first goal in the 20th minute. For the season, Weise is fourth in the ODAC with seven goals and fifth with 14 points.

WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caitlin Barnes | Washington and Lee | So. | Midfielder
Barnes, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, came up big for the Generals in their regular season finale against Bridgewater. With the #1 seed in the upcoming ODAC Spring Women's Soccer Tournament on the line, Barnes secured what proved to be the game-clinching goal in the 61st minute. She cut inside off the right-wing and sent a left-footed effort into the upper far corner for her second goal of the season. Washington and Lee enters the eight-team ODAC Tournament unbeaten at 8-0 overall and 7-0 in league play.

MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Doyle | Guilford | So. | Midfielder/Defender
Doyle, a sophomore from Clayton, N.C., picked the right time to score his first two goals of the season as both proved game-winners to help Guilford run its winning streak to five straight games. The Quakers and Shenandoah played to a scoreless draw thru 90 minutes of regulation and the first of two 10-minute overtime periods before Doyle powered a header past the Hornets' keeper off a feed from Rodrigo Gudino. The tally came 3:37 before the end of the second extra frame for a 1-0 overtime home victory. Doyle was again the hero late-on in a 3-2 victory at Ferrum. The Quakers enjoyed a 2-0 lead thru the midpoint of the second half before the Panthers turned the tables with scores in the 66th and 77th minutes. Doyle came thru a little over three minutes later for his second game-winner of the week, this one off a feed from Joenn Lanza in the 80th minute. Guilford is now 5-2-1 overall and in ODAC play. GC owns the sixth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament and travels to Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday for quarterfinal action.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lauren Anderson | Lynchburg | Jr. | Pole Vault
Anderson, a junior from Centreville, Va., continues to have a great combined indoor and outdoor season in the pole vault following her appearance at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. Anderson posted the ODAC's new season-best mark in the event in her first try to finish second overall at 3.52 meters (11-6.50), which ranks seventh in the country. Of note, teammate Bailey Casto also hit that mark on her third attempt in the event. Anderson competed in the 100-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay on the track. She placed 24th in the 100m in 13.43 seconds and joined teammates Jessica Cammarata, Destaunia Perry, and Elizabeth Wenger in posting a fourth-place time of 50.63 in the 4x100m relay.

MEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Joe O'Connor | Washington and Lee | Jr. | Jumps/Hurdles
O'Connor, a junior from Henrico, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season after a strong outing at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. O'Connor registered a new personal-best outdoor clearance in the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 4.68 meters (15-4.25) to finish third overall and first among Division III competitors in the event. That mark is nearly a half-meter taller than the next closest ODAC competitor and ranks 10th in the country. O'Connor also took a turn in the 110-meter hurdles and finished sixth in 15.56 seconds, his second-best time in the event this spring.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Carolyn Todd | Washington and Lee | So. | Distance
Todd, a sophomore from Cumberland Foreside, Maine, posted the second-fastest time in Washington and Lee program history in the 5,000-meter run at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. Todd's time of 17:28.61 placed fourth overall and first among Division III competitors. It ranks #1 in the ODAC and fourth in the country. Todd's time is second only to Jessica Shaw's 16:56.78 posted in 2008.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Frank Csorba | Lynchburg | So. | Distance
Csorba, a sophomore from Boydton, Va., put together a record-setting performance at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William of William & Mary. Csorba crushed the Lynchburg and ODAC records in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:37.97. That time was third overall and first among Division III competitors. It also ranks second in the country. The previous Lynchburg and ODAC records were set by Ricky Flynn in 2010 at 30:03.39.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Greta Coss | Virginia Wesleyan | Sr. | Middle Blocker
Coss, a senior from Bowie, Md., helped lead Virginia Wesleyan to a pair of ODAC wins in a tri-match against Emory & Henry College at Randolph College. Coss opened with 12 kills and hit .286 in a 3-0 win over E&H. She registered a pair of block assists to go with a dig and was responsible for 13 points in the match at 4.3 per set. Against the host WildCats, Coss posted 11 kills and hit .333 in a 3-1 triumph. She added two block assists and two digs. She accounted for 12 points at 3.0 per set. For the season, Coss leads the ODAC in hitting percentage (.381), is fifth in kills per set (3.45), sixth in points per set (3.8) and eighth in kills (76).
