ODAC Players of the Week

BASEBALL
Chase Shuford, Guilford, So.,
Pitcher
Shuford, a sophomore from Mathews,
N.C., threw a career-high six shutout innings in the Quakers 2-0
win over Bluefield State College. She gave up just two hits and
walked one on the way to victory. He fanned six batters, retiring
the last 14 hitters he faced in a row.

BASEBALL
Jacob Roberts, Guilford, Jr., Left
Field
Roberts, a junior from Warsaw, Va.,
had hits in all three of Guilford's wins last week. He was 3-for-4
with a double, triple, two RBI and a run scored in a 9-3 win over
Averett. In game one of a doubleheader sweep of Bluefield State,
Roberts was 1-for-3 with a stolen base in a 2-0 win. In game two,
he went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and another run scored in a 9-3
win. Roberts is currently batting .538 on the season.

INDOOR TRACK
Ian McDonald, Washington and Lee, So.,
Mid-Distance/Distance
McDonald, a sophomore from Richmond,
Va., etched his name into the Generals' record-book by setting a
new school-standard in the 800-meter run at the Susquehanna
Invitational. McDonald finished fourth overall with a time of
1:5714. It marks the third-fastest time in the ODAC this season. He
already owns ODAC top times in the mile, 3,000-meter and
5,000-meter runs.

INDOOR TRACK
Jaclyn Mohlmann, Shenandoah, Sr.,
Pentathlete
Mohlmann, a senior from Annandale,
Va., earns her second weekly honor after placing third overall and
first among NCAA Division III competition in the pentathlon at the
Navy Sweetheart Multi-Mix. She set new SU records in the high jump,
long jump and pentathlon points, collecting 3,464 to the latter.
That point total is fourth in NCAA Division III. She finished third
in the 60-meter hurdles (8.82), high jump (1.64m; 5' 4.5") and
800-meter run (2:24.87). She was fourth in the long jump (5.18m;
17' 0.0") and 10th in the shot put (9.69m; 31' 9.5").

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Myles Turner, Emory & Henry, So.,
Guard
Turner, a sophomore from Richmond,
Va., helped the Wasps to a 2-1 record on the road in the ODAC this
week, including a pair of wins against Harrisonburg-area rivals
Bridgewater and Eastern Mennonite. Turner opened the week with 17
points, seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in a
77-66 loss to Hampden-Sydney. He followed that with 13 poitns,
three rebounds, five assists and three swipes in a 72-68 nail-biter
against BC. He scored the first four points of a 10-0 run with less
than six minutes to play to erase a seven-point deficit. In an
81-78 triumph over Eastern Mennonite, Turner fell two points shy of
a career-high with 28 points as he buried 11-of-14 from the foul
line. He added six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Twice
he tied the game up late in the fourth quarter and helped seal the
team's fifth win of the season, which already eclipses E&H's
total for wins last season. Turner is currently third in the ODAC
in scoring (17.2 ppg) and total points (395). He's also second in
free throw made (119-of-155) and fifth in assists (83).

MEN'S LACROSSE
Aaron Murphy, Lynchburg, Jr.,
Attack
Murphy, a junior from Downington, Pa.,
helped the Hornets to a season-opening win over Salisbury
University in a battle of top-rated teams. Eighth-ranked LC
defeated the #3 Sea Gulls, 12-7. Murphy, a preseason All-American,
scored five goals and dished out a pair of assists. He also picked
up a pair of ground balls. Murphy's goals came on six shots on
frame.

MEN'S TENNIS
Steven Baker, Shenandoah, Fr., #1
Singles/#1 Doubles
Baker, a junior from Monkton, Md.,
helped the Hornets to a season-opening win over Hood College. SU's
top-singles player won 6-1, 6-1 over Vladislav Sluchenkov at the
top flight. He and teammate Jesse Ewing knocked off Sluchenkov and
Alex Sexton, 8-3, in #1 doubles action.

SOFTBALL
Conner English, Lynchburg, Fr.,
Pitcher
English, a freshman Altavista, Va.,
appeared in three of LC's four games at Emory University to open
her collegiate career. She twice faced Rhodes College, going in the
distance the second time to earn her first collegiate win. She shut
out the Lynx on three hits with a two walks and two strikeouts for
a 1-0 win. She threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief in her first
collegiate appearance against Rhodes, giving up one hit with a walk
and a punchout. She took the loss in a 7-3 set-back to 16th ranked
Emory in between her two appearances against Rhodes.

SOFTBALL
Rachel Howard, Guilford, Sr., First
Base
Howard, a senior from Eflanad, N.C.,
collected four hits in the Quakers' season-opening split with
Meredith College. She went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBI
in a 7-4 game one loss. She followed that by going 2-for-3 with a
walk and two more RBI in a 5-0 Quakers' triumph.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Chloe Harris, Emory & Henry, Fr.,
Guard
Harris, a freshman from Bristol, Va.,
helped the Wasps to a pair of wins last week, making it four
victories in the last five games for E&H. Harris opened with 12
points, three rebounds, four assists and five steals in a 77-41
triumph over Hollins. She buried four three-pointers in the
contest. Harris hit three more shots from deep against
Randolph-Macon, including the game-winning bucket with nine-seconds
to play for an 85-84 win. The victory marks the first time E&H
has recorded more than 10 wins since 2005-06. Harris finished with
16 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and five more
steals. She currently averages 10.3 points per game. She's third in
the ODAC in three-point shooting (41.5%) and eighth in
three-pointers made (39-of-94). She's sixth in steals (50) and
seventh in assists (68).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Lauren Procaccino, Washington and Lee,
So., Attack
Procaccino, a sophomore from
Manhasset, N.Y., started off her second season in Lexington with a
bang as she helped the Generals to a 12-7 season-opening road win
at Christopher Newport. Procaccino scored five unassisted goals.
Four of her tallies came in the first half as W&L built an 8-5
lead. She gave the Generals their largest lead at 11-5 with 13:23
to play.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
Molly Barb, Shenandoah, Jr., #1
Singles/#1 Doubles
Barb, a junior from Edinburg, Va.,
helped the Hornets to a 1-0 start to the spring season with a 9-0
win over Shippensburg. Barb posted a win at #1 singles and with
teammate Shannon Allin at #1 doubles. Barb dusted Julia Saintz,
6-0, 6-3, in singles play, and then joined Allin in defeating
Saintz and Brittney Buckley, 8-3.
