Darrell Thompson, Shenandoah, Jr., Pitcher

Thompson, a junior from Middletown, Va., picked up the win in game one of a doubleheader sweep of then ODAC-leading Virginia Wesleyan over the weekend.  Thompson gave up two unearned runs on four hits, walking only one.  He struck out eight batters before leaving after seven innings of work and a nine-run outburst by the Hornets' offense in the bottom-half of the inning.  Thompson is now 3-1 on the season with a 2.48 earned run average in 32.0 innings on the hill.

Baseball Pitcher Honor Roll

Steven Woerner, Bridgewater (Jr. - Madison Heights, Va.)
Woerner picked up a win and a save in the Eagles sweep of the Hornets.  He worked 2.2 innings, including a 1-2-3 ninth to allow a ninth-inning comeback.  He gave up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts in game one.  In game two, he again worked a perfect ninth with a strikeout to pick up the save.

Ryan Henschel, Eastern Mennonite (Sr. - New Market, Va.)
Henschel went 8.1 scoreless frames to pick up his second win of the season, 3-0, over Washington and Lee.  He scattered five hits, retiring the first 12 batters he faced.  He did not walk or strikeout a batter.

Aaron Sparks, Emory & Henry (Sr. - Troutman, N.C.)
Sparks went the distance in the Wasps 6-4 win over Washington and Lee in game one of a doubleheader sweep.  He gave up four runs, one earned, on four hits with a walk and a strikeout to improve to 2-4.

Darin Salter, Guilford (So. - Denver, N.C.)
Salter appeared twice last week, working 6.0 innings of relief.  He went four frames in a win over Lynchburg, giving up two unearned runs on fie hits.  He tossed two scoreless frames in a loss to Hampden-Sydney.

David Goulding, Lynchburg (Fr. - Lynchburg, Va.)
Goulding went 1-1 in two starts last week.  After a loss to Guilford in which he gave up six runs (3 earned) on 11 hits and a walk in seven frames, Goulding threw a complete-game shutout against Eastern Mennonite.  He scattered four hits and walked one while fanning four.

Nic Phelps, Randolph-Macon (So. - Richmond, Va.)
Phelps got the win over Catholic, 10-3, last week.  He went five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

John Ruhlman, Roanoke (So. - Virginia Beach, Va.)
Ruhlman helped the Maroons to a doubleheader sweep of Randolph-Macon by winning game one, 6-0.  He worked 7.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and walking four batters while fanning nine to move to 3-1.

Sean Greiser, Virginia Wesleyan (Jr. - Virginia Beach, Va.)
Greiser went 7.2 innings against Washington and Lee to pick up the win, 8-1.  He gave up one unearned run on three hits without a walk and seven strikeouts to improve to 3-1.
