ODAC football got off on the right foot in 2010 with five wins
over the past week. Bridgewater, Catholic, Emory & Henry,
Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon all trounced non-conference
opponents to start the year 1-0. Emory & Henry's Caleb
Jennings earned the first ODAC Offensive Player of the Week award,
while Bridgewater defensive end, Dominic Jeter, secured ODAC
Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Bridgewater scraped past St. Vincent College, 19-14, thanks in
part to 111 rushing yards from running back Thomas Tate. The
big play was a large part of BC's offense in 2009, and it proved so
again on Saturday. Darrin McKenzie ripped off a 53-yard run
to open the game's scoring in the second quarter. Late in the
third quarter, receiver Tyler Beiler kicked it into high-gear with
an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Defensively,
Dominic Jeter picked up the ODAC's weekly honor after recording
three quarterback sacks as part of 3.5 tackles for a loss --- Box Score
Catholic staved off a late charge from Shenandoah University on
the foot of kicker Connor Maloney in the Cardinals' 16-13 win.
Maloney buried each of his three field goal attempts,
including the game-winning 29-yard boot with 54-seconds left in the
third quarter. Running back Michael Pitzenberger was solid in
his collegiate debut as he rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on

Emory & Henry went to double-overtime in its clash with Ferrum
College before securing a 23-17 victory. Caleb Jennings (see
below) racked up 213 yards rushing and three touchdowns, two of
which came in the extra frames. He dove into the endzone from
a yard out for the game winner after scooping up a fumble from the
E&H quarterback. On defense, Devan Sproles collected 15
tackles (12 assists). --- Box Score
Guilford fell to Greensboro College, 17-15, in the annual Gate
City Soup Bowl. Ben King was named the Quakers' MVP after
rushing for a 27-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
He also caught six passes for 53-yards and another score.
Defensively, De'Shawn Lindsay came away with a game-high 11
tackles (10 solo). --- Box Score
Hampden-Sydney and new starting quarterback, Travis Lane, were
firing on all cylinders in a 45-30 triumph over Averett University.
Lane fired four touchdown passes as part of a 348-yard
passing day. He connected with Kyle Vance eight times for 142
yards and a touchdown. Running back Kirk Rohle ran for 118
yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Kenny Fryman had 11
stops, one sack and recovered a fumble. Ty Condrey also had a
sack and forced a fumble, which he recovered. --- Box Score
Randolph-Macon burst for 487 yards of offense in a 54-14 drubbing
of Methodist University. Thaddeus Scruggs rushed for 83 yards
and three first-half touchdowns to help pace R-MC to a 35-7
halftime lead. Wide receiver Earl Peoples hauled in 10 passes
for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Quarterback Austin
Faulkner tossed three scoring strikes. Defensively, the
Yellow Jackets recovered three Monarch fumbles with Scott Shope
returning one 50 yards for a touchdown. --- Box Score
Washington and Lee took a 35-7 loss at Franklin & Marshall
College. Harrison Hudson accounted for the Generals touchdown
on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter. Defensive back John
Kavanaugh intercepted his first pass of the season, one of only
three in the ODAC on opening day. Jesse Jenkins led the unit
with nine tackles (7 assists). --- Box Score
