The fourth week of football saw the ODAC pick up four more wins
in six games. ODAC teams have gone 18-7 during the
non-conference portion of the season with three left to be played
as various points throughout the remainder of the campaign.
Four teams remain undefeated heading into league play. Emory
& Henry, Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon all sit at
4-0. Bridgewater is 3-0 with one more non-conference game set
for Thursday versus Southern Virginia in Salem, Va.

Bridgewater returned to the gridiron on Saturday following its bye
week and kept its winning ways intact with a 35-24 triumph over
Ferrum. Receiver Tyler Beiler and quarterback Hagan Driskell
had the Eagles’ big play offense working early and often as
the two connected on scoring plays of 57, 58 and 38 yards, all in
the first half. Beiler finished with 212 yards on seven
receptions, falling just short of the ODAC’s all-time top
ten. Thomas Tate ran for 112 yards to keep the Ferrum defense
guessing. BC’s defense held the Panthers to
219 yards of offense. Darrin Stephenson and T.J. Montague
each had eight tackles. Stephen Howard collected a pair of sacks
for a loss of 20 total yards. Chris Wholey blocked a punt
that Matt Jarvis returned 11 yards for a touchdown. --- Box

Catholic lost for the second time in as many games as its 41-31
setback at Albright evened the Cardinals’ record at
2-2. Quarterback Greg Cordivari continues to put up solid
numbers as he threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He
and receiver Alonzo Cooke connected six times for 99 yards and a
pair of scores marking the fourth and fifth times they’ve
recorded touchdown passing plays this season. Running back
Mike Pitsenberger ran for 79 yards and a touchdown and also caught
a TD pass. On defense, Ryan Klein came away with an
interception, and Christian Pavik and Marc McEvoy led the unit with
nine tackles. --- Box

Emory & Henry scored 35 points in the first half and held
Methodist to 190 total yards in cruising to a 49-6 victory on
Saturday. Running back Caleb Jennings carried the ball 16
times in 2.5 quarters and rushed for 166 yards and two
touchdowns. Quarterback Dustin Beck had his best game of the
season as he threw for three touchdowns and ran in for one from
five yards out. He completed 18-of-21 passes for 169
yards. William Pearl ran for 55 yards and one score while
also catching a touchdown pass. In holding Methodist to six
points, E&H lowered its points-allowed averaged to 9.8 per
game. Mike Young picked off his second pass of the season,
and Daniel Preston recorded a sack. Devan Sproles and Preston
led with seven tackles. --- Box

Hampden-Sydney found itself trailing Salisbury 28-19 early in the
fourth quarter, but two late touchdowns put the Tigers ahead 32-28
(failed two-point conversion on last TD) with 1:12 to go.
Salisbury drove 69 yards on three passing plays to the H-SC 11-yard
line with 0:37 still to go. Two incomplete passes and a
six-yard run on third down to the H-SC 5-yard line setup fourth
down with 0:22 to play. SU’s ensuing pass fell
incomplete, securing the Tigers’ win. Travis Lane threw
for 383 yards and two TDs in the win. Evan King ran in a pair
of scores as part of 76 yards rushing. Kyle Vance and Sean
Cavanagh each caught a TD pass and eclipsed the 100-yard barrier
(9-for-117 and 8-for-111 yards, respectively). --- Box

Randolph-Macon scored 45 points in the first half en route to
trouncing Frostburg State, 48-6. Receiver Earl Peoples
accounted for three of the touchdowns as he caught scoring passes
of 67 and eight yards and returned a punt 52 yards to
paydirt. Vance Hendren also caught a touchdown pass.
Drake Sanders and Thaddeus Scruggs both had short rushing
scores. Will McGhee led the R-MC backfield with 69 yards on
18 carries. Austin Faulkner was efficient in a 10-for-15 day
for 130 yards and three scores. Defensively, Jemehl Williams,
Adam Stein and Patrick Moses all intercepted passes. The unit
forced five turnovers in total. Josh Storm made field goals
of 38 and 25 yards. --- Box

Washington and Lee took to Wilson Field for its first home game of
the season following its bye week. The Generals enjoyed a
10-0 lead going into the fourth quarter, but 20 unanswered points
by Averett over the final 14:12 led the Cougars to a 20-10
victory. Washington and Lee turned an Averett interception on
the game’s first play into a 10-play 83-yard drive that
culminated in Charlie Westfal’s 13-yard touchdown run.
The Generals didn’t break through the Averett
bend-but-don’t-break defense again until the third quarter
when Peter Alston buried a 37-yard field goal. Luke Heinsohn
led the W&L rushing attack with 129 yards on 20 carries.
The defense was led by Jesse Jenkins, who made 13 stops and a pair
of tackles for a loss. Doug Fraser and Mike Hartford each
intercepted passes. --- Box
