FOREST, Va. ---
Hampden-Sydney earned the 2011 ODAC football title in one of three high-scoring games in week 10.  The Tigers topped Washington and Lee, 42-35, to secure its seventh league crown.  Guilford came back from a 20-6 deficit to post its first conference win since 2009 with a 34-27 win over Catholic.  Randolph-Macon defeated Bridgewater, 51-36, behind six rushing touchdowns.

Hampden-Sydney's defense forced two turnovers and held Washington and Lee to just 145 yards from scrimmage in the first half as H-SC rattled off 28 unanswered points spanning into the third quarter.  The Generals were forced to alter much of their normal game plan as quarterback Charlie Westfal attempted a season-high 34 passes.  While he was intercepted twice in the first half, he responded with three scoring strikes in the fourth quarter as W&L clawed back into the contest.  The deficit proved too much to overcome as Travis Lane and the H-SC offense were nearly mistake free in fending off W&L's comeback bid.  Lane completed 21-of-33 pass attempts for 331 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.  He threw two touchdown passes to Kyle Vance (9 for 147) and one each to Sean Cavanagh (7 for 133) Eric Gorsline (2 for 37).  Kirk Rohle ran for 101 yards and two short TD runs to aid the effort.   Josh Doggett led the defense with 10 tackles, 2.0 TFL’s and an interception.  Sean Stewart also picked off a pass. For Washington and Lee, Westfal finished with 243 yards passing and a rushing score to go with his three touchdown passes.  Luke Heinsohn ran for 113 yards, and tight end Alex Evans (7 for 107) caught two touchdown passes for the second week in a row.  Rob Look led the defense with a game-high 12 stops.

Catholic seemed well on its way to a win in Washington, D.C. after opening a 20-6 lead early in the second quarter, but Guilford leveled the score heading into the break.  It was Satiir Stevenson's 55-yard interception return for a touchdown that knotted the game at 20-all.  Late in the third quarter, the Quakers took their first lead when Ben King hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Zac Halbert.  Catholic played the comeback role on its next possession when Mike McCarthy tied the score with a one-yard TD run.  The game remained dead-locked at 27-27 until Rob Fields caught a six-yard touchdown pass with 32 seconds to play, sealing the Quakers first ODAC win under first year head coach Chris Rusiewicz.  King finished with game-highs of 13 receptions and 200 yards receiving.  Halbert went 25-of-36 passing for 274 yards.  Rushing was a big part of GC's win as the Quakers recorded 40:13 in time of possession.  Aaron McNeely ran for 100 yards on 24 carries.  Josh Williams added two scores and 52 yards on the ground.  Defensively, Stevenson added seven tackles to his day.  Chris Jessup had two sacks, costing Catholic 25 yards from scrimmage.  For Catholic, Greg Cordivari went 30-of-48 passing for 373 yards and three touchdowns.  Wesley Stringfield caught nine passes for 119 yards, and Andrew Ouellette had seven receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns.  Mike Pitsenberger ran for 66 yards to lead CUA on the ground.  Defensively, James Fucillo led four Cardinals in double-digit tackles with 14 stops.  Conor Stueckler made 13 tackles and intercepted a pass.

Randolph-Macon put together an impressive rushing day with all but one touchdown coming via the ground.  Drake Sanders ran for two scores as R-MC opened up an early 17-0 lead.  That grew to 24-6 by halftime following an 83-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Brandon Harrison.  Bridgewater pulled to within three points at 31-28 when Carlos Gonzalez threw his fourth touchdown pass of the day, a 10-yard throw to Cassidy Burns with 9:44 to play.  But Randolph-Macon responded with two short touchdown runs by Thaddeus Scruggs and a 22-yard scoring sprint by quarterback Zac Naccarato to go ahead 51-28 and seal its victory.  Scruggs led the Yellow Jackets to a 217-yard rushing day with 122 yards and three scores.  Sanders finished with 94 yards and his two TD’s.  Defensively, Jeremy Bowry led the unit with nine tackles and a fumble recovery.  Andrew Leonard intercepted a pass.  For Bridgewater, Gonzalez finished with a career-high 406 yards passing to go with his four TD tosses.  Leigh Bradley registered a game-high 150 yards receiving, and Burns finished with two touchdown receptions after catching a second scoring toss from Willie Logan.  Shawn Lee and John Lezcano had a touchdown catch each.  Defensively, Dominic Jeter and Jeff Mehlhaff had nine tackles apiece.  Jeter added two sacks and four TFL's, costing R-MC 21 yards of offense.
