Four Earn All-American Honors to Lead Football Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Four athletes from ODAC schools earned All-American recognition to lead the conference's contingent of award winners.  Guilford College defensive back Satiir Stevenson was tabbed to the first team by D3fooball.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), while teammate and fellow defensive back JerMario Gooch picked up a second team spot from D3football.com. Hampden-Sydney College receiver Holton Walker also received second team recognition, while Bridgewater College return-man Jordan Hartman was selected to the third team.

The quartet leads a group of 12 ODAC players that earned All-South Region honors from D3football.com.  Gooch, Hartman, Stevenson and Walker were all tabbed to the first team.  Guilford quarterback Matt Pawlowski and his favorite receiver, Adam Smith, are joined on the second team by Bridgewater cornerback Darrick Gore and Washington and University guard Micah Fleet.  BC running back Jacob Wright and Shenandoah University tailback Cedrick Delaney picked up third team laurels, as did GC linebacker Hunter Hoots and kicker/punter Tyler Hunt.

Stevenson, a senior from Roselle, N.J., is now a two-time All-American by the AFCA and D3football.com in addition to earning Little All-America laurels from the Associated Press (AP) and the ODAC's Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year this season. He received First Team All-ODAC recognition for the third straight season, a first for a Quakers' defender. A second-team all-league pick as a rookie, the senior captain is Guilford's first defender named All-ODAC four times and joins Junior Lord as the only other Quaker tabbed to three first-team squads.  Stevenson ranked second on the team with a career-high 92 tackles, four interceptions and five pass breakups in 2014. He finished fourth in the league in tackles and fifth in interceptions per game. Stevenson had five contests with nine or more tackles, including a 22-stop, one-interception performance versus Washington and Lee University that clinched his third career ODAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, plus a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week. Stevenson twice led the ODAC in interceptions and concludes his career with 14 thefts, the fourth-highest total in Guilford history. He also leaves ranked fourth among Guilford's career punt return average leaders (8.1). Stevenson started a school-record 40 games amassed 303 career tackles (183 solo). He broke up 20 passes in addition to his 14 career interceptions.

Gooch, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., was a First Team All-ODAC pick after leading the league with a career-high six interceptions, seventh-best in school history. His 0.6 picks per game average stands 19th in Division III. He also had 42 tackles (23 solo) and broke up a team-high seven passes, the ODAC's fifth-best figure. Gooch averaged an ODAC-high 1.3 passes defended per game, which ranks 56th nationally. He had two thefts in Quakers' victories over Southern Virginia University and Randolph-Macon College. His season-high eight tackles contributed to a win over Washington and Lee University. Gooch enters his senior season with 11 interceptions, the sixth-best total in school history.

Walker, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., led the ODAC in receiving yards for the third consecutive season while earning his third first team nod.  He caught 61 passes for 1,183 yards and 11 touchdowns. He concluded his career as one of the best receivers in program and ODAC history, holding six school records, including career touchdowns (39), single season touchdowns (16), single season receptions (111), and single season yards (1,723). Additionally, he's second in school history with 4,207 career yards and 250 career receptions.  His 39 touchdowns catches are second all-time in the ODAC, while his 4,207 yards rank third.  He was named the Co-Receiver of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.

Hartman, a senior from Winchester, Va., led the ODAC in every return category en route to earning first team honors as an all-purpose back. At the conclusion of the 2014 season, Hartman ranks fourth in the NCAA and tops in the South Region in punt return average with 19.5 yards per return. Hartman also served as the program's primary kick return specialist and ranks 32nd in the nation with a 26.1 average. He returned one kick for a score this season as he took back the opening kickoff of the second half against Hampden-Sydney. When Hartman's numbers are combined, he ranks second in all of Division III in combined return yards with 1,076 yards on 46 returns. His 1,076 combined return yards ranks eighth in the nation among all levels of NCAA competition.  Hartman was tabbed the Specialist of the Year by the TD Club of Richmond.
