Alenka Ferrufino, Bridgewater, Jr., Attack

Ferrufino, a junior from Manassas, Va., started off the 2014 season with a bang amidst stormy weather over the weekend as the Eagles went 1-1.  In a 4-1 victory over Hendrix, Ferrufino scored twice in the first half before storms forced the game to be halted.  Ferrufino carried her momentum into Sunday morning as she tallied a third time to open the season with a hat-trick.

Field Hockey Honor Roll

Kelsey Link, Lynchburg (Sr., A - Spotsylvania, Va.)
Link found the back of the cage in both of Lynchburg's games as the Hornets opened the season 1-1.  She scored LC's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Wesley.  She followed that with one of four tallies in a 4-1 win over Swarthmore.

Eve Megenthaler, Sweet Briar (Jr., D - Litchfield, Conn.)
Mergenthaler matched her career-high with three defensive saves in the Vixens' season-opening loss to Johns Hopkings, 7-0.

Lindsay Baker, Virginia Wesleyan (Sr., GK - Havertown, Pa.)
Baker made 16 saves in 105 minutes guarding the Marlins cage over the weekend.  She made three stops in half-a-game's work in a 6-0 win over Ferrum.  She followed that with 13 saves against 15 shots on-goal as the Marlins fellow to #16 Mary Washington, 1-0.

Candice Stefanic, Washington and Lee (Sr., A - Berwyn, Pa.)
Stefanic led the Generals to their first win over Johns Hopkins in program history.  Stefanic notched the game-winner in the 47th minute and fired the shot that was redirected to the back of the cage off a rebound for the third goal of a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.
