  • Quakers Place Second, One Shot Back

    Guilford started the final round of the NCAA Division III Golf Championships 11 strokes back of leader Methodist, but by the end of the day, the Quakers were within striking distance. Their push fell one shot short of a full comeback as GC shot the round of day and tournament with a four-under-par 283.
  • Guilford Holds onto Third at NCAA's

    Guilford's men's golf team retained third place after Thursday’s third round of the 37-team NCAA D-III Championships. The Quakers shot 295, their lowest round of the tournament, but slipped 11 strokes behind top-ranked Methodist University (307-290-287-884), which shot 287 and opened a five-shot edge over second-place Huntingdon College (309-290-290-889).
  • Quakers Third After Golf's Second Round

    Guilford's men's golf team shot 297 Wednesday and climbed two spots into third place after the second of four rounds at the 37-team NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The Quakers trail leader Methodist University (307-290-597) by three strokes. Bridgewater missed the cut by five strokes, but the Eagles' Travis Gahman will continue as an individual.

  • ODAC Golf Gets Two in NCAA's

    Bridgewater will see a few familiar faces in Hershey, Pa., next week as the Eagles will be joined by Guilford in representing the ODAC at the 2010 NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The four-round event begins on Tuesday, May 11. Both the Hershey Links and the Hershey Country Club open their fairways to champioship play.
  • GC’s Latimer Heads ODAC Golf Teams

    GC's Peter Latimer headlines the 2010 ODAC Golf All-Conference Teams for the second straight season. Fellow Quakers Noah Ratner and Brian Creghan earned the top rookie and ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete honors. BC's Lee Williams received ODAC Coach of the Year accolades, and R-MC's Zach Wehrman was tabbed the Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year.
  • Bridgewater Claims First ODAC Golf Title

    Tuesday was a day of firsts on the links at Bay Creek Resort & Club as Bridgewater College improved upon its second round lead to capture its first ODAC golf title. Mike Redwood supplied the Eagles with their first ODAC individual champion as the senior made up four strokes to tie Guilford College’s Peter Latimer before winning a one-hole playoff.

    Bridgewater College took advantage of “ideal conditions” on Monday afternoon as the Eagles shot a tournament-low 299 team score to move into the lead at the 2010 ODAC Golf Championships. BC (312-299---611) is five shots clear of Guilford College (314-302---616) heading into the final round of action on the Arnold Palmer Signature at Bay Creek Resort & Club.

    Washington and Lee University owns a two shot lead over Bridgewater College after the first round of the 2010 ODAC Golf Championship at Bay Creek Resort & Club in Cape Charles, Va. Bridgewater junior Mike Redwood and Guilford College sophomore Dusty Roberts share the individual lead after firing 74 on the custom par 72 track.

    The 2010 ODAC Golf Championships make a return trip to the east coast as Bay Creek Resort & Club plays host to the league’s eight golf squads for the second straight year. The facility’s Arnold Palmer Signature Course will serve as the venue for the three-round affair set to begin on Sunday in Cape Charles, Va. Play starts at 11:05 a.m.
  • GC Mourns the Passing of Jack Jensen
    March 29, 2010
    Jack Jensen, who taught and coached at Guilford for 45 years, died suddenly March 28 after returning from a collegiate golf tournament. He was 71. Jensen coached men’s basketball for 29 years until 1999 and was in his 33rd season as coach of the golf team. His teams won four national championships.
  • Parker Retires, Pochily to Lead VWC Golf

    Conrad Parker has retired as the golf coach at Virginia Wesleyan College, turning the program over to Matt Pochily, who was an assistant coach with the Marlins through the 2008-09 season. Parker plans on spending more time as a participant on the golf course, as well as more time with his family.
