LC's Sippie National Champion in 400-meter Dash

W&L's Tallman Places Third in Same Event

LINCOLN, Neb. --- Lynchburg College sprinter Tom Sippie highlighting the ODAC's showing on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships.  The Hornets' sophomore made his top-qualifying time stand up as he won the 400-meter dash title, out-pacing the field by 0.17 seconds.  Fellow ODAC sprinter, Zander Tallman from Washington and Lee University, placed third in the event.

Sippie turned in a time of 47.93 seconds in the preliminaries of the 400-dash, topping a field of 15 runners.  Tallman qualfied for the eighth and final spot with a time of 48.61 seconds.  Both athletes improved on their times in the finals, with Sippie stopping the watches first in 47.86 seconds.  Tallman came within 0.06 seconds of second place with a time of 48.09 seconds.

In addition to an ODAC presence in the 400-dash, the women's 4x400-meter relay team from Roanoke College also took to the track.  The squad of Brynn MacDougall, Jessica Mejia, Alexis Janney and Alease Kinney placed 11th with a time of 3:56.25.
