Rhodes, a junior from Dayton, Virginia, broke her own BC record in the pole vault this past weekend at the UNC Indoor Invitational. In her first meet of the season, Rhodes cleared 11 feet, 9.75 inches, breaking her own mark of 11 feet, 7.75 inches set a year ago. Her height at the UNC meet also met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. Rhodes finished fifth at the UNC meet behind four Division I participants. She cleared the same height as the third and fourth place finishers, but finished fifth on misses.
Women's Indoor Track Honor Roll
Ashley Allen, Lynchburg College, Junior - Throws
Allen won the weight throw with a heave of 14.31 meters
and was second in the shot put (11.57 m - a personal best) Saturday
at Susquehanna University.
Robin Yerkes, Roanoke College, Senior - Sprints
Yerkes placed in the top-10 in a mostly Division I
meet. She finished ninth overall in the 200m with a
season best and ODAC leading time of 25.84. Her time of 58.59
in the 400m placed her fifth overall and provisionally
qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Championships. She was the
only DIII competitor to finish in the top eight in both
events.
Maggie Sutherland, Washington and Lee University, Senior -
Hurdles
Sutherland took third place in the 55-meter hurdles (9.38)
and was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that took fourth
with a time of 4:20.11.
