Alfaro, a sophomore from Toms River, N.J., put together a strong day in the throws at the Lynchburg Sprints, Jumps and Throws Challenge. She won the both the shot put and the weight throw events, posting the ODAC's seasonal best mark in the latter. She heaved the weight 49' 11.25", which ranks 50th in the country. She tossed the shot 38' 9", second only to her throw of 39' 1" earlier this season.
Women's Indoor Track Honor Roll
Melanie Waters, Bridgewater (Sr. - Pasadena,
Md.)
Waters and teammate Jessica McCarty went 1-2 in the
400-meter dash at the Lynchburg Sprints, Jumps and Throws
Challenge. Waters led the way in a winning time of 1:02.65.
She also won the long jump with a mark of 16' 11.25".
Hannah Chappell-Dick, Eastern Menonite (So. -
Bluffton, Ohio)
At the Susquehanna University Open, Chappell-Dick
posted a time of 2:20.31 in just her second attempt at the
800-meter run this season. Her time is second on the ODAC
charts and finished second in the event. She was also apart
of EMU's distance medley relay team, which placed sixth in
13:43.91.
Rebecca Reyna, Guilford (So. -
Liberty, N.C.)
At the Appalachian Pre-Conference Meet, Reyna posted a time of
2:35.39 in the 800-meter run. The time was fastest among the
non-NCAA D-I runnings in the heat.
Tiffany Lennon, Virginia Wesleyan (Fr. - Carrollton,
Va.)
Lennon set a new VWC record in the 200-meter dash
with a time of 27.17 at the UNC Dennis Craddock Invitational.
She finished 15th overall, eclipsing the previously
established record of 27.28 set by her teammate, Shakiella Daniel,
in the prelims of the event.
