Witherell, a freshman from Wilmington, Del., helped the Generals to a season-opening 10-9 triumph in double-overtime at Christopher Newport University.  Witherell scored twice and dished out three assists for five points in his first collegiate game.  He also picked up three gound balls and caused a turnover.
