ODAC Track & Field Championships Set

Roanoke College to Host Two-Day Weekend Event

SALEM, Va. --- Lynchburg College on the men's side and Roanoke College women's contingent will each be looking to protect the conference indoor championship crowns they claimed earlier this year another set of victories at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The two-day affair kicks off at the C. Homer Bast Track at Roanoke College on Friday, April 18, with field events beginning at 1:00 p.m. and track events starting at 3:00 p.m.  Competition will continue on Saturday, April 19, with field events starting at 10:00 a.m. and the track events beginning at 1:30 p.m.

On the men's side, Lynchburg has reigned in men's track & field for over 10 seasons and will try to win their 11th straight title in 2008. It will not be a runaway victory for the Hornets this year as Bridgewater is hungry to take the title. The last time Lynchburg lost was to Bridgewater in 1997. Sneaking up to both teams will be Washington and Lee and Roanoke College.

For the women, this was a short but electrifying outdoor season.  School records were broken at almost every institution and several ODAC athletes are already finding themselves on the NCAA Qualifying list. Roanoke College will be entering the outdoor championships as the 2008 ODAC Indoor Champions and 2007 defending ODAC Outdoor Champions.
