WES UNDERWOOD, Roanoke, Senior - Multiple Events

Underwood, a senior from Narrows, Va., won two individual events and placed second in two others at the Roanoke College Invitational.  He won the 100-meter dash in 11.47, then went on to win the long jump with a jump of 6.63 meters. Underwood also placed second in javelin and triple jump with marks of 50.13 and 12.84 meters, respectively. Underwood was awarded the Male Athlete Award of the Roanoke College Invitational.

Men's Outdoor Track Honor Roll

Thomas Bell, Bridgewater, Senior - Throws
Bell placed in three throwing events at the Roanoke Invitational to help lead the Eagles to the team title at the meet. Bell won both the shot and discus and placed fourth in the hammer. He won the hammer with a throw of 150-8.75 and discus with a throw of 138-10.5.

Derick Kosgei, Guiford, Sophomore - Distance
Kosgei placed 17th among 61 runners in the 5,000 meters at the Wake Forest Open… completed the course in 15:15.93… had the best finish among eight Division III contestants in the predominantly Division I and Division II field.

Dan Reid, Lynchburg, Senior - Throws
Reid had a strong day throwing at the Lynchburg College Track & Field Invitational. He finished second in the hammer throw with a heave of 45.81 meters. He placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.96 meters and threw the discus 38.53 meters to place eighth.

Kyle Chowhan, Virginia Wesleyan, Freshman - Pole Vault
Chowhan opened the 2010 outdoor season by setting VWC’s record in the pole vault competition at the Battlefield Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington.  He cleared a height of 12 feet, breaking VWC’s former record of 11-9.5.  Chowhan placed third overall in the event.

Ben Goetsch, Washington and Lee, Senior - Jumps
Goetsch won the high jump at the Roanoke Maroon Invitational with a height of 1.92 meters.
