Osborne, a senior from Ordinary, Va., was a part of three winning performances at the Washington and Lee Carnival and the Doc Jopson Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater. On Friday night at W&L, Osborne ran the lead-off leg of the women's 4x400-meter relay team that ran for a new ODAC and school-record time of 3:54.65. That mark provisionally qualified the Maroons for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. On Saturday at Bridgewater, Osborne broke the meet record with a leap of 5.65 meters (18'5"). She won the event and is currently ranked No.1 for NCAA D-III following her 18'11" leap last weekend. She also ran the lead-off leg on the women's 4x100-meter relay team that won the event by better than two seconds (48.90 to 51.63).
Women's Outdoor Track Honor Roll
Sammy Mizerak, Bridgewater, Senior -
Jumps/Hurdles/Relay
Mizerak won the javelin at the Doc jopson Invitational
with a throw of 127 feet, 9 inches. The throw set a new BC record,
breaking Mizerak's previous mark by more than five feet. The throw
missed the NCAA provisional standard by two inches. She also placed
second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:08.48. Mizerak ran on
the second place 4x100 relay with a time of 51.63 and the
first-place 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.64.
Michelle Leaman, Eastern Mennonite, Senior -
Hurdles/Sprints
Leaman controlled the field in the 100m Hurdles, as she
claimed first place with a time of :16.15. Her closest competitor
was more than three-quarters of a second behind. She also had
the fastest time in the preliminaries (:16.12) by a second and a
quarter. Leaman also claimed fourth in the 400m Hurdles with
a time of 1:13.14.
Ashley Allen, Lynchburg, Junior - Throws
Allen had a strong weekend at the Washington & Lee
Track Carnival. Ashley smashed her season-best throw in the discus,
throwing the discus 114’7” meters to take fourth
place. Allen broke her own school record in the hammer throw,
heaving the hammer 145'4".
Kelly Fauth, Virginia Wesleyan, Sophomore - Distance
Fauth set two VWC records in the 800 meter run and the
1,500 meter run at the Washington & Lee Track & Field
Carnival. She finished the 800 race in a time of 2:27.12,
breaking her old record of 2:27.28 set last year. She improved her
own 1,500 record for the second consecutive meet, finishing the
race in a time of 4:57.68, which improved last week’s time of
4:58.65. The latter time topped her own former record of
5:08.11 set last season.
Marissa Thompson, Washington and Lee, Freshman -
Jumps/Sprints
Thompson notched a trio of top-10 individual finishes as
she took fifth in the triple jump (10.55 meters), sixth in the 100
meters (12.86) and ninth in the long jump (4.96 meters). Thompson
was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that took fourth
overall with a time of 4:12.59 at the Washington and Lee Carnival.
