Reid, a senior from Hamilton, Mass., shattered his own school record set last week and tied the ODAC standard in the hammer throw with a toss of 173’7” this past weekend at the Liberty Invitational. Reid’s throw also topped the ODAC season-best mark, set by himself last week. He is currently ranked 15th in the nation according to the ratings on www.raceberryjam.com.
Men's Outdoor Track Honor Roll
Richard Rogers, Guilford, Freshman - Distance
Rogers placed sixth among 20 runners in the 3,000
meters at the Aggie Relays… completed the course in 9:42.11,
a team season low.
Sean Whitson, Virginia Wesleyan, Sophomore - Distance
Whitson took another step toward rewriting all of
VWC’s long-distance records in outdoor track on Saturday when
he clocked a final time of 32:05.16 in the 10,000 meter run at the
Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary.
Whitson’s effort smashed VWC’s previous record of
32:48.45 in the event, set by Robert Aaron in 2009. Whitson
was the only Division III runner to compete in the event and placed
16th in the field of 22. He finished in front of
runners from Delaware, St. Joseph’s, Rider and Virginia
Commonwealth. Whitson set VWC’s record in the 5,000 meter run
last weekend at the WLU Track & Field Carnival.
Ben Goetsch, Washington and Lee, Senior - Jumps
Goetsch took third overall in the high jump among D-I, II,
III competitors at the Liberty Invitational with a height of 1.94
meters.
