2013-14 ODAC Swimmers of the Week

  • Meredith Hardy, Washington and Lee, Sr.

    Hardy, a senior from Cary, N.C., helped the Generals to a sweep of VMI and Ferrum over the weekend, with W&L posting winning scores of 133-64 and 134-62, respectively. Hardy won a pair of individual events and aided her teammates in a relay win. She stopped the watches first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.55. She followed that with a 55.29 showing in the 100-yard freestyle. Hardy went on to swim the anchor leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which touched the wall at 1:52.13.
  • Caroline Hamp, Washington and Lee, Sr.

    Hamp, a senior from Avon Lake, Ohio, led the Generals to a tri-meet victory over Catholic University and Marymount University over the weekend, winning a pair of individual events and helping the Generals to a relay win. Hamp's day started with a strong third leg in the 200-yard medley relay, aiding W&L to a winning time of 1:53.52. She followed that with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.32. She capped her outing with a 1:01.02 triumph in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Carrie Crowther, Bridgewater, Sr.

    Crowther, a senior from Burgess, Va., helped the Eagles to 1-1 showing in their first two meets of the new year. She won four individual events and participated in a winning relay in BC's win over Hollins (130-51) and setback to Washington and Lee (122-78). Against Hollins, Crowther won the 50-meter freestyle in 28.13 seconds (converted to 25.48 for yards), and followed that with a winning time of 1:02.94 (converted to 56.39) in the 100-meter freestyle. She and her teammates won the 400-meter medley relay in 5:08.03 (converted to 4:39.07). Against W&L, Crowther set a pair of BC records (meters only) as part of two individual wins. Her first record came in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:12.82 (converted to 2:00.33). She then captured the 100-meter freestyle record in 1:01.60 (converted to 55.19). Crowther also competed in the third-place 200-meter freestyle relay team, which clocked a time of 2:02.66 (converted to 1:51.12).
  • Allison Fowler, Emory & Henry, Fr.

    Fowler, a freshman from Morristown, Tenn., put together a strong day in leading the Wasps to a first place finish at the Union College Winter Invitational. Fowler competed in seven different events, including three individually in which she claimed first place each time. She set or helped set several schools records and one new ODAC standard. She and her teammates tapped out in 1:36.96 in the 200-yard free relay, eclipsing the ODAC mark of 1:37.15 set by Washington and Lee last February at the ODAC Championships. Fowler posted individual wins in the 200-yard (2:11.69) and 400-yard (4:38.27) individual medleys in addition to claiming the win in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.09). Her times in both IM's are tops in the ODAC this season. Fowler and her teammates also won the 400-yard (3:34.01) and 800-yard (7:55.82) free relays, as well as the 400-yard medley relay (4:00.85). E&H, as the only non-scholarship team at the meet, won 13-of-18 events and all five relays on the way to setting 18 school records.

    Holmes, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., picks up her third weekly honor of the season after helping the Generals to first place at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Holmes swam in five events, posting one first-place and two runner-up individual finishes in addition to a pair of relay wins. She established new ODAC seasonal top times in each of her three individual races. She won the 500-yard freestyle, finishing just one-second off the ODAC record with a time of 5:04.55. She also finished second in the 200-yard (1:55.55) and the 1650-yard (17:40.86) freestyles, setting a new W&L standard in the former. Holmes and her teammates moved atop the conference's top times in the 400-yard freestyle relay, posting a winning time of 3:36.01. They also won the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:54.11).

    Crowther, a senior from Burgess, Va., put together three individual event wins and helped her BC teammates to a relay victory in the Eagles 167-94 dual meet win over Sweet Briar. Crowther took over the top spot in the ODAC in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 25.06. She also won two other freestyle events, posting times of 55.43 in the 100 free and 2:01.80 in the 200 free. Both times rank in the ODAC's top-three this season. Crowther and her teammates also won the 200-meter freestyle relay in 2:00.24
  • Emily Plowman, Randolph-Macon, Fr.

    Plowman, a freshman from Chesapeake, Va., won two individual events, placed second once and helped Randolph-Macon to first and fourth place finishes in two meets last week. In a dual meet at St. Mary's, Plowman won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.71 and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.60. She and her teammates touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a 1:45.96. In a second meet against Mary Washington, Plowman again won the 50-yard freestyle, shaving .01 off her time to win in 25.70. She and her teammates placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.53.

    Holmes, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., earns her second weekly award after setting three individual ODAC top times at the Wingate Invitational. Holmes swam in six total events, posting a pair of individual second place finishes in addition to a fourth place showing. She was also apart of two third place relays. Holmes set new conference top times in the 200-yard (1:56.52) and 1000-yard (10:38.98) freestyles, placing second in both. She was just a little over a second off of W&L's record time in the 200-free, but only 0.22 seconds shy of a new school mark in the 1000-free. Holmes also set a new ODAC top time in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.81). She and her teammates finished third in the 200-yard (1:43.01) and 400-yard (3:41.50) freestyle relays, and came in sixth in the 400-yard medley relay (4:10.97).
  • Michaela Nolte, Emory & Henry, Fr.

    Nolte, a freshman from Hillsborough, N.C., helped the Wasps to a pair of dual meet wins over Ferrum and Bridgewater. In E&H's 159-37 win over the Panthers, Nolte touched the wall first in the 100-meter butterfly (1:09.32 converted to 1:02.45 in yards) and 200-meter freestyle (2:20.41 converted to 2:06.41 in yards). Her time in the 100-fly set a new school record. She also helped E&H to first place and a new school record in the 200-meter medley relay in a time of 2:10.08 (conversion to yards not yet available). In the Wasps 146-58 win over BC, Nolte won the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.49 converted to 0:56.29 in yards) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:19.39 converted to 1:11.52), setting another school record in the latter event. She and her Wasps teammates broke a third record with a time of 1:56.62 (conversion to yards not yet available) in the 200-meter freestyle relay. E&H won 22 races in total, placing first and second in 14-of-18 individual events. The Wasps set 10 school records.
  • Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee, Fr.

    Rollo, a freshman from Haddonfield, N.J., posted two individual victories in the Generals dual match against Mary Washington and then aided in three first place and two second place relays at the ODAC Relays on Saturday. Against Mary Washington, Rollo placed first in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes, touching the wall in 1:02.78 and 2:14.38, respectively. She also placed second in the 200-yard IM (2:16.99) and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay that placed fourth (1:55.82). At the ODAC Relays, she swam the last leg of the 150-yard backstroke relay that finished first (1:24.92) and was the third leg in the 100-yard dolphin kick relay that touched the wall first and was the only squad under one minute (56.18). Rollo led off the 300-yard IM relay that clocked in first in a time of 3:10.40. She was also a member of the 400-yard free relay (3:42.81) and the 150-yard butterfly relay(1:22.31) teams that captured second place.

    Holmes, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., kicked off her collegiate career with a trio of first place individual finishes in helping Washington and Lee open the season with a 161-101 triumph over Centre. Holmes tapped first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.54), the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.83) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.44). She also swam a leg on the Generals' 400-yard freestyle relay team, which placed second in 3:45.71.
