  • Bianca Ygarza, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Forward

    Ygarza, a senior from Conestoga, Pa., picks up her second weekly award of the season after leading the Royals to a pair of ODAC wins and the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Ygarza was 7-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the line on the way to 18 points in EMU's 75-69 win at Shenandoah. She chipped in nine boards and an assist to the effort. Her hot shooting continued at home against Lynchburg as Ygarza made 5-of-8 shots from the field and both her free throws in EMU's 76-46 triumph over the Hornets. She added seven boards and a steal. Ygarza is seventh in the conference at 14.1 points per game. She's third in field goal shooting at 54.1-percent (131-of-242).
  • Taylor Huber, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Forward

    Huber, a junior from Ashland, Va., picks up her third weekly award after leading Randolph-Macon to conference wins at Shenandoah (86-77) and at home against Guilford (80-74). Huber scored 50 points over the two games, including 24 at SU. She cashed in 10-of-11 free throws, adding six rebounds, two assists and four steals to her stat line. Against the Quakers, Huber posted 26 points with an 11-for-12 performance from the stripe. She also buried a trio of three-pointers in addition to four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot. For the season, Huber leads the ODAC in scoring (22.0 ppg) and three-pointers made (61). She's also fifth in steals (43).
  • Shannon Allan, Lynchburg, Jr., Forward
    February 10, 2014
    Allan, a junior from Warwick, N.Y., helped the Hornets to a pair of ODAC victories to take hold of second place in the ODAC standings. Allan poured in 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting in a 69-61 home win over Guilford. She knocked down 5-of-7 from deep in addition to pulling down seven rebounds. She also registered an assist, a steal and a blocked shot. Allan put together a second 25-point effort against Bridgewater, but it was her three-pointer with 11-seconds to play that secured the one-point win for LC via a 79-78 result on the road. She was 10-of-18 from the field, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. She chipped in six rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot. For the season, Allan is fifth in the ODAC in scoring at 15.7 points per game. She's also fourth in free throw shooting (84.9%) and sixth in three-point percentage (35.2%).

    Ygarza, a senior from Conestoga, Pa., led Eastern Mennonite to a pair of conference wins as the Royals took over sole possession of first place last week. Ygarza recorded her first double-double of the season in an 82-63 home win against Randolph-Macon. She posted 16 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 6-of-8 from the foul line. She pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out two assists in addition to posting a steal and blocked shot. Ygarza follwed that with 17 points and six boards in a 70-50 victory at Emory & Henry. She was 7-of-10 from the field and dished out four assists. Ygarza is seventh in the league in scoring at 14.1 points per game. She is also sixth in field goal shooting (51.6%) and eighth in assists (50).
  • Katie Anderson, Randolph-Macon, So., Forward
    January 27, 2014
    Anderson, a sophomore from Beaverdam, Va., helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of conference wins last week. Anderson shot 56.7-percent from the field and averaged 22.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in wins over Washington and Lee (96-76) and Roanoke (110-93). Against W&L, Anderson poured in 26 ponits on 10-of-16 from the field and 6-of-6 from the stripe. She added 11 rebounds (5 offensive) for her eighth double-double of the season, and also chipped in two assists and three steals to her stat line. At Roanoke, Anderson registered 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 5-of-6 from the foul line. She corralled seven boards to go with two assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots. For the season, Anderson is fourth in the ODAC in scoring at 16.6 points per game. She second in rebounding at 10.2 boards per outing, and is fifth in field goal percentage (52.4%).
  • Paxton Gwin, Roanoke, Sr., Guard
    January 20, 2014
    Gwin, a senior from Buxton, N.C., helped the Maroons to a pair of conference road wins on the way to her second weekly award of the season. Gwin notched 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 6-of-7 from the foul line to help Roanoke to a 78-66 victory at Emory & Henry. She added eight rebounds in that contest. Gwin recorded another eight boards in addition to 24 points in the Maroons 78-64 win at Bridgewater. She was 9-of-17 from the field and again missed just one shot from the stripe in five tries. For the season, Gwin is third in the ODAC in scoring at 17.7 points per game.
  • Heather Cantrell, Bridgewater, Fr., Forward
    January 13, 2014
    Cantrell, a freshman from Singers Glen, Va., helped the Eagles to a 2-1 week, including a conference victory over Randolph College (76-67). Cantrell opened her week with 19 points and seven rebounds rebounds in a non-conference loss to Mary Washington (70-50). She was 8-of-11 from the field, also chipping in four steals and a pair of assists. Six of her rebounds came via the offensive glass. Cantrell notched eight points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists in BC's thumping of Mary Baldwin (94-28). She capped her week with her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. She made 8-of-10 shots from the stripe in the this contest, while also making 4-of-8 shots from the field. She added two assists and a steal against the WildCats. Cantrell is averaging 9.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game on the season. She is third in the ODAC in field goal shooting at 59.2-percent (42-of-71).
  • Paxton Gwin, Roanoke, Sr., Guard

    Gwin, a senior from Buxton, N.C., helped the Maroons to a pair of wins over the past week, including a conference victory over Hollins (72-56). In that game, Gwin dropped in 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go with four rebounds and an assist. She followed that with her second double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 boards in a 68-46 triumph over Stevenson. she was 7-of-8 from the field in that contest, including 2-of-2 from deep, and hit 5-of-6 from the foul line. She added two assists two steals and a block against the Mustangs. Gwin is currently third in the ODAC in scoring at 16.7 points per game.
  • Sarah Parsons, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Guard

    Parsons, a junior from Glen Allen, Va., helped the Yellow Jackets to a 1-1 showing in Fort Lauderdale., Fla., at the Cruzin Classic sponsored by Trip Sports. Parsons averaged 28.0 points in the two contests on the way to scoring her 1,001st career-point. She notched a career-high 32 points in a 104-90 win over Mt. St. Vincent, which marked the fourth with where R-MC scored at least 100 points this season. Parsons was 10-of-19 from the field and 9-of-10 from the stripe. She followed up that performance with 24 points, four assists and three steals in a loss to TCNJ (84-73). She hit a trio of three-pointers in both games. For the season, Parsons is second in the ODAC 21.1 points per game. She's also second in three-point shooting at 44.4-percent (24-of-54).
  • Morgan King, Guilford, Sr., Center
    December 16, 2013
    King, a senior from Teachey, N.C., helped the Quakers to a pair of wins over Greensboro College and William Peace University. King averaged 16 points and eight rebounds over the two games, shooting 60.9-percent from the field (14-of-23). In a 77-70 win over Greensboro, she notched 17 points on 7-of-13 from the field. She added 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She also chipped in three assists. King aided GC's 78-36 triumph over WPU with 15 points and six rebounds and a block. She made 7-of-10 shots. For the season, King is averaging 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. She is second in the league in foul shooting (88.9%) and sixth in the league in field goal percentage (53.9%).
  • Nancy Kelly, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., Forward

    Kelly, a junior from Phoenix, Md., helped the Marlins to a pair of wins last week, including an ODAC triumph over Roanoke to move Virginia Wesleyan to 3-0 in league play. Kelly, participating in just her second and third games this season, notched 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting in a 60-57 win over N.C. Wesleyan. She added six rebounds, two blocks and a steal to her work down low. In VWC's 70-56 win ove Roanoke, Kelly notched a career-best 19 points on 9-of-12 from the field. She added nine rebounds and a pair of assists. For the week, Kelly shot 65.2-percent (15-of-23). She's averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in her three games played.
  • Shelbi Hendricks, Washington and Lee, So., Forward

    Hendricks, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., stuffed the stat sheets in leading Washington and Lee to a 67-63 win over Roanoke College to even the Generals ODAC record at 1-1. Hendricks posted a career-high 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting (.611), including a 1-of-3 showing from beyond the arc. She scored six of W&L's final eight points to help the Generals seal the win. She also converted 6-of-7 tries from the foul line, dished out three assists and pulled down four offensive rebounds on the way to six boards. Hendricks shined defensively in her 38 minutes of court time as she registered an ODAC season-best tying six steals. Hendricks is currently fourth in the league in steals (12) and leads W&L in scoring (11.8 ppg).

    Huber, a junior from Ashland, Va., picks up her second ODAC weekly honor in as many weeks, helping lead Randolph-Macon to three more wins and a 5-0 start to the season. Huber averaged 23.7 points over the three contests, pouring in an ODAC season-best 30 points in a 105-81 win over Roanoke in the Yellow Jackets' conference opener. She hit 10-of-15 shots from the field in that game, also collecting three rebounds and three steals. Huber began her week with 16 points in an 82-65 triumph versus Mary Washington. She followed that with 25 points, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks in a 92-73 decision against Marymount (Va.). She buried six from beyond the arc in that outing. Huber currently leads the ODAC in scoring at 23.2 points per game.

    Huber, a junior from Ashland, Va., earned MOP honors at the Hampton Inn South Tip-Off Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington, leading the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins to start the campaign. One of those victories came via a 92-86 decision over nationally third-ranked Christopher Newport University in the season-opener. Huber went for 24 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field in that contest, also hitting a trio of three-pointers to go along with two assists and three steals. She followed that with 21 points, nine assists, three boards and three steals in a 92-70 victory over Rutgers-Newark. She was 6-of-11 from the field in that contest, burying five from downtown and going 4-of-4 from the stripe.
