LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lynchburg College
men's basketball team rolled to a 111-79 victory Monday night in
the first round of the 2015 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Championship Tournament. The 111 points are the eighth-most scored
in program history.
LC opened a 28-9 lead following an 11-0 run after nine minutes of
play. Five different Lynchburg players put the ball in the basket
in the surge.
Lynchburg led 50-32 at intermission and quickly opened a 25-point
edge. LC led by at least 19 points the rest of the way.
A total of 11 players scored for Lynchburg, including three in
double figures. Junior Austen
Arnold posted a game-high 29 points, nailing six of seven
three pointers. Daniel
Rowe netted 18 points, hitting three three-pointers,
and Alex
Graves posted 12 points. Zack
Burnett filled the stat sheet with career-highs of 10
rebounds and seven assists to go with six points. Lyndon
White added eight points, four rebounds and four
assists.
LC shot 68 percent from three-point land (13-19) and 64 percent
overall (40-62).
Shenandoah (4-22) was led by Aaron Patterson with 22 points.
Malcolm Clark tallied 14 points, Eli McEathron had 11 points and
Kelsey Thomas had 10.
The fifth-seeded Hornets (17-9) move on to face #4 Eastern
Mennonite University in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday in
Salem, VA. The semifinals and finals will also take place in the
Salem Civic Center Saturday and Sunday.
