2023 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


May 15, 2023
ODAC teams and individual athletes are competing in last chance meets as they gear up for possible qualification in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. That all comes on the heels of a strong regular campaign that culminated in the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and led to this year's All-ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Awards. In a vote of the league's head coaches, five individual honors per gender are recognized by the conference. Additionally, the ODAC's athletic communications personnel name the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athletes of the Year. This year's ODAC Field Athletes of the Meet from the ODAC outdoor championships are Eastern Mennonite University multi-event star Ray Ray Taylor and Bridgewater College record-breaking thrower Peter Fulton. The ODAC Track Athletes of the Meet are multiple All-American sprinter Adalia Coleman from Bridgewater and Roanoke College speedster Brady Fowler. The ODAC Rookies of the Year both hail from the University of Lynchburg in mid-distance standouts Hailey Smith and Chasen Hunt. Both earned the same honors during the indoor season, along with outdoor ODAC Women's Coach of the Year, Jim Sprecher. The outdoor ODAC Men's Coach of the Year is Brandon Uhl from Washington and Lee University. The league's athletic communications personnel identified two different stars from the indoor season as this year's ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Those distinctions belong to a pair of distance standouts in W&L's Carolyn Todd and EMU's Jansen Miller.

It's a different kind of double-double for the University of Lynchburg as the Hornets completed a full sweep of the ODAC indoor and outdoor track & field events with their men's and women's team titles at the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Monday. Lynchburg has now won ODAC bests of 31 men's and 13 women's outdoor crowns.

It has been a banner season for ODAC track & field with event winners and All-Americans shining indoors and those athletes -- as well as others -- showing off their talent in the outdoor arena. The campaign comes to a head this weekend with the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships kicking off what could be an outstanding run for league stars with national competition on the horizon. Bridgewater College and the Jopson Athletic Complex serve as the host and host venue for this year's conference championship event. This season's affair is set for Sunday and Monday, April 30-May 1. Competition for field events begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, with running events starting at 5:00 p.m. ET. On  Monday, field events commence at 11:00 a.m. ET with running events speeding into gear at 3:30 p.m. ET. The outdoor track & field postseason continued on Friday with the announcement of the All-ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Awards in addition to several special honors determined the by the league's head coaches from the recently completed ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Bridgewater College sprinter Adalia Coleman repeats as not only the Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet, but adds this to the same award she earned for the 2021-22 indoor season. Virginia Wesleyan University jumper Jaylyn Lane is also a repeat honoree as she was named the Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet to match the same recognition to earned indoors. Roanoke College mentor Gene Galloway was named the ODAC Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year, while Maroons' thrower Elisabeth Cullen received ODAC Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Year. It was announced during the championship that University of Lynchburg distance runner Stephanie Burnett secured the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award from the the conference's athletic communications personnel. On the men's ledger, Eastern Mennonite University sprinter Alijah Johnson garnered ODAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet laurels. VWU jumper Geni Roberts is the ODAC Men's Field Athlete of the Meet for the second straight year and adds this to the same honor he earned a couple months ago indoors. Lynchburg mentor Jim Sprecher repeats as the ODAC Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year. Bridgewater multi-discipline athlete Aaron Moon was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year. EMU mid-distance runner Isaac Alderfer earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year plaudits.

For the second time in as many season, the University of Lynchburg was not only home to the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, but it is the residence of the conference's two trophies with the Hornets securing both the men's and women's crowns. Lynchburg increases its ODAC record total to 30 men's championships, while the Hornets women have lifted four straight prizes and now feature a conference-best 12 women's titles. Weather played a role in much of Saturday's competition on day two of the championships. Running times and field event marks were lower than expected, especially after eight league records were reset on day one. Still that didn't keep several individuals from putting their best feet forward.

April 29, 2022
Eight conference records were edited following the first day of competition at the 2022 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Lynchburg. Six events were completed with several others featured in preliminary competition on Friday afternoon. Lynchburg leads the way on the men's ledger with 51 points. Bridgewater College earned 44 markers, while Shenandoah University sits third with 42 tallies. In the women's team table, Roanoke College tops the field with 68 points. Lynchburg follows at 55, with Shenandoah chiming in third at 48 points. Competition resumes on Saturday with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET. The first running event is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.

2021 ODAC Track & Field Championships News

The University of Lynchburg won 17 combined events on the way to capturing both the men's and women's titles at the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hornets have now won an ODAC record 29 men's outdoor crowns, while the 2021 title ties Lynchburg's women's program with Roanoke College for the league's most trophies at 11.

It has been more than a year since the ODAC conducted a track & field championship, but that hiatus comes to an end this weekend with the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The University of Lynchburg will serve as hosts using the Dr. Jack Toms Track at Shellenberger Field as well as surrounding throwing areas on the Lynchburg-based campus.

2019 ODAC Track & Field Championships News

One title race was a runaway while the other was a nail-biter that came down to the last event as action closed amid further threatening weather at the 2019 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. By the end of day two at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va., the team champions were familiar sights with the University of Lynchburg women hoisting a second straight women's trophy and Bridgewater College repeating as men's champion with its fourth crown in the past five year.

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships head to a new location this weekend as the 2019 affair will be hosted by Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va., for the first time in program history. WildCat Stadium will serve as the main venue with throwing areas surrounding the grounds.

2018 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


April 21, 2018
It had been a while for one school and a return to the winner's circle after a brief hiatus for the other as the trophies were handed out following the 2018 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday evening. Lynchburg College locked up its ninth overall women's team title, its first league crown since 2011. Weekend host Bridgewater College lifted its 10th men's piece of hardware marking the third time in the last four years that the Eagles men have posed for the event's final photo.

Conference athletes registered several strong performances last weekend. One of venues -- Bridgewater College. The Jopson Athletic Complex will again feature ODAC competitors Friday and Saturday as Bridgewater prepares to host the 2018 ODAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Bridgewater last welcomed the conference contingent to campus for the championship meet in 2015 with the Eagles hoisting the men's trophy and Roanoke College donning the women's crown.

Washington and Lee University turned its home venue advantage into one title on Saturday afternoon as the Generals claimed the ODAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field championship. Bridgewater College took home the ODAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field trophy after two days of competition in rainy conditions in Lexington.

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for Wilson Field at Washington and Lee University this weekend as the Generals open their campus to the rest of the conference for two days of competition in Lexington. ODAC squads will compete in 40 total events (20 men, 20 women) beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and continuing on Saturday, April 22.

2016 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


April 23, 2016
Bridgewater College put another feather in its cap on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg as the Eagles took home both team titles from the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championshps for the first time in program history. The dual victory completes a season sweep of conference crowns in 2015-16 as the Eagles add these two trophies to the pair they hoisted following the ODAC indoor championships in February.

April 22, 2016
Weather may have delayed the start of the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, but that didn't keep the athletes from shining under the lights at Lynchburg College. Bridgewater College's men own a 60-55 lead over the host Hornets in the team standings, while the conference's other set of Hornets, Shenandoah University, maintains the narrowest of leads at 59-58 over the Eagles in the women's ranks.

2015 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


April 18, 2015
Bridgewater College made good on its bid in one repeat opportunity, adding the men's team title at the 2015 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to its crown indoors. The victory is the eighth outdoors for the Eagles. Roanoke College locked up its ODAC record 11th women's championship, the Maroons' fourth outdoor trophy.

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships return to Bridgewater College this weekend as the Eagles open the gates of Jopson Field to the rest of the conference. ODAC squads will compete in 40 total events (20 men, 20 women) beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and continuing on Saturday, April 18.

Lynchburg College thrower Kim Alfaro won two events on the first day of the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Bridgewater College, proving to be the lone multiple-event champion among 12 finals events competed on Friday. Conference teams competed in 20 events overall despite threatening weather much of the day. Competition will continue on Saturday at Jopson Field.

2014 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


April 19, 2014
Lynchburg and Roanoke added to their ODAC record number of outdoor track & field titles as the Hornet men and Maroon women corralled the 2014 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship team crowns. The 162 points accumulated by LC translated into its 28th conference title, while the 150.33 tallies gathered by RC secured a 10th league championship. Washington and Lee's Zander Tallman and Bridgewater's Kaylee Kubisiak were named the Athletes of the Meet.

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships have proven to be as competitive an event as any in the conference over the last several years. The 2014 edition of the league's final affair is poised to fall in line as the conference's nine men's and women's track programs head to Salem, Va., and Roanoke College for competition on Friday and Saturday.

Virginia Wesleyan College sprinter Randy Lott won a pair of preliminary events and set a new meet record to highlight the first day of competition at the 2014 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Roanoke College. Bridgewater College leads the women’s team standings by five points over Lynchburg College, while LC’s men hold a 12-point edge over BC prior to continuing the championship on Saturday.

2013 ODAC Track & Field Championships News


April 20, 2013
The Lynchburg College men's team and the Roanoke College women's squad captured the team titles at the 2013 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday evening. The Hornets won six events towards 175.5 points and a 38.833-point spread between first and second place in the standings. The Maroons Washington and Lee by topped 23.5 points on the women's side after claiming nine event victories towards 178.5 points.

Lynchburg College owns the team standings lead in both the men's and women's competitions after the first day of the 2013 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Men's throw Greg Wilson (pictured) won both the shot put and hammer throw as part of four combined event victories for the Hornets. Day two competition begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The Maroons' Carmen Graves garnered women's Athlete of the Meet honors, while Bridgewater's Luke Sohl turned the double as top athlete and ODAC Rookie of the Year on the men's side.

Lynchburg College claimed both the men's and women's track & field team championships on Saturday afternoon, marking the third straight ODAC outdoor track and field title for the men's team and 25th overall. The Hornet women won their first outdoor title since 2005 and their eighth overall.

Roanoke College is set to serve as host of the 2011 ODAC Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Action at Alumni Field and C. Homer Bast Track begins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and continues on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. It all comes to a close with the awards ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening.
